Was Dyson, the bloke with De Goey, from an NRL team, as his name does not ring a bell as an AFL player?

The sooner he's delisted, the better.

 He's overrated and over-paid.

Collingwood Football Club forward Jordan De Goey has been charged with assault offences in the United States.

  • New York Police arrested Jordan De Goey and Australian man Luke Dyson at a New York nightclub
  • Police charged the men with assault and forcible touching
  • The Collingwood Football Club said it was working to determine the facts of the matter

The New York City Police Department told the ABC Mr De Goey and 28-year-old Australian man Luke Dyson were charged with assault and forcible touching.

It relates to an alleged incident that happened at the PHD Rooftop Lounge at the Dream Hotel in the Chelsea district in the early hours of Saturday morning (local time).

The Collingwood Football Club said it was "aware of a report involving Jordan De Goey".

Police said they responded to an emergency services call from a 35-year-old woman who claimed she was groped by two men on the dance floor.

When the woman's 37-year-old male friend tried to intervene, he was punched, kicked and struck in the face with a glass bottle, police alleged.

Mr De Goey and Mr Dyson were arrested at the scene and are currently in custody waiting to see a judge.

Police said all parties involved in the incident were intoxicated and were not previously known to each other.

The NYPD said the 37-year-old man suffered pain and swelling to his lips and body, and the 35-year-old woman was not injured but was described as distressed.

Both refused medical attention.

A Collingwood spokesperson said the club had yet to speak to Mr De Goey.

"The club is attempting to contact Jordan, who is in the USA, to determine the facts of the matter," a spokesperson said in a statement.

"The club will not be in a position to comment further until it has done so."

Apart from the last 15 minutes the most absorbing, unusual even bizarre GF I can remember.  And a huge ratings success:

Saturday night’s AFL grand final out-rated this year’s Olympic Games opening ceremony, recording 3.9 million viewers to make it the most watched television program so far in 2021.

the second quarter was one of the best of the season. It was intense. Then they went to half-time and the Doggies adrenaline expired.

The Dees were magnificent in their domination. The best comeback in years. Perfection.

Those extra rest weeks had them so fresh at the end.

First game I’ve watched in years and only because Demons played. Was at MCG in 1964 for their last GF win. Still remember that day. The names still reverberate today for true followers as yesterday’s players will to current generation of followers. Well done, well deserved and savour the exhilaration and exultation.

Congratulations Melbourne Football Club. The 57 year drought has been broken. The Demons win their 13th VFL/AFL premiership. They were far too good tonight - 74 point winners..which is their biggest margin win in Grand Finals. Also they scored 140 points - the last time a team scored 140 or more points was Geelong in the 2007 Grand Final (163 points). I am sure Neale Daniher will be so very very happy too. Also a mention to the Western Bulldogs who flew to Tasmania, South Australia and WA to get to the Grand Final - a big effort. Also the many Melbourne supporters and members....enjoy.

obviously, Nathan Jones was holding them back...(joke)

What a shame he isn't a part of this. Breaks your heart to think of how much he gave of himself to the club, only to not make the winning team.

 The cruelty of sport.
