Thought we should give this fellow his own thread. He will no doubt be around for a long time as an independent senator concerned about tackling the difficult issues. His background of running pubs has obviously helped in finding out what the "real" people think of Muslim migration & African gang violence in the hard working Gladstone area. All the recent publicity will only increase his appeal for many on polling day. With a bit of luck he may end up holding the balance of power. Would be good to see how Penny, Tanya, Bill & Scott deal with that.

I also understand crime statistics support Sudanese born people are well & truly over represented in assaults, aggravated robberies & aggravated burglaries in Victoria (on a per capita basis).

Politicians entering the pub business lol remember that idiot Wilson Tuckey who ran a pub whilst in parliament , his son had a trainers lisence wilson was on the committee and decided to run for WA turf club chairman , got in and lasted 5 mins , an arrogant ratbag and despised by many trainers too, imo this blokes an idiot too.

Not sure about other states Carioca - however NSW politicians (from both sides) & Hotels go back a long way. The Hotels Association has always had a lot of influence. For example, fortunes were made overnight when pokies got the green light in pubs (that nobody saw coming). Pubs went from struggling businesses to a license to print money. Examples of major Sydney pubs being valued at a few million only to be worth 50 to 100million a few years later. If they weren't directly involved many had their prick relations with their noses in the trough. The Laundy & Whelan families are a few of many that have had close ties. Singleton has also made a lot of his fortune from the pub game.
