Not every day will you find something quite like this browsing the studbook - this unraced “stallion” covered 4 mares this year - 3 of them are his half sisters. I struggle to believe the studbook would accept something like this.

Thats crazy !  The breeders must be nuts !!  And thats how we get badly conformed and poor temprement in horses who end up at the knackery because they are useless.

I totally and utterly disagree.

If there was a full sister to Sea The Stars who was just as sound and talented I would love to see them mated together.

For Heavens' sake djebel, could you occasionally talk sense & when comparing, compare apples with apples?
Urban Sea, Sea The Stars were elite racehorses, this horse is as far away from that as one can get & yes, I'm reliably told these were intentional matings Angry
As acacia said, no wonder too many TBs end up one one way trips at an early age Angry

Too many thoroughbred end up at the knackery, How the hell does that come back to these types of matings.

This type of mating probably represents 4 in about 13,000 matings if that.........

In racing, 'rubbish' to 'rubbish' rarely results in even a picnic race winner. djebel, what is so appealing to you about these matings?

I do not find anything appealing about these matings but I find them a whole lot more facinating than if they were completely unrelated to each other and of the same class of stock.

I’ve seen a few of these stories lately, like the woman on the island who bred The wiz with his own daughters.

Or a horse currently racing, Raid The Cabinet, jumped the fence and had a go at his mother.

Hello,
I think I have seen thoroughbreds in Europe with this Close inbreeding  to "Urban Sea", not only by
Sea the Stars.

As remainder last years English Derby winner Masar is 3x4 Urban Sea + Ahoonora 3x4.

regards, Ticino

Be interesting to see those shockingly inbred horses in the flesh, Shawey.  Cripes that last one, born 2011, now thats sickCensoredThey would be like that family they found in the bush here in NSW . Parents, their children, and their children, all sleeping with each other. Most of them were so bad they couldnt even talk or walk properly. Poor horse would be the same. Imagine whats going to happen to the poor animal . She will no doubt have had it served by The Wiz ??Shocked And poor Precious Tatt.  4 dead foals, 2 slips and 2 misses ( thank heavens ), If she slipped in 2015 why is a certificate of parentage being submitted  ???  Confused One colt foal in 2011,,wonder whats happened to him . Poor mare.

animals before people.

We once had a cat that gave birth to two kittens sired by her son. One was born dead, the other was born with elbows where it should have had knees. We drowned it. I wonder how many of those 'died after birth' foals died of natural causes or if they were put down due to deformities.

Deary me! Drowning is the easy way for humans to disassociate or depersonalise from the act which takes minutes of gasping for air to fill lungs & cease life.
Very much harder on us is an instant end to life with a heavy blow to the head when there's no alternative.

Totally going off topic, but back when I was a youngster I can remember Mum had to kill a chook who was losing her feathers and being attacked by the other chooks. Took her head off with an axe.
Can still image the headless girl running around the yard for a few minutes afterwards.

All the old hands killed their chooks that way.   The thing is you have to hold their legs as you chop the head, so they dont go running around the yard headless.  I saw it happen once when my Uncle , who didnt have a clue about these things, let it happen.  My Dad was horrified, as he always did his own chooks but would never have let that happen.
Anyway, thats off topic, as you say.
