perhaps the best thing gerry harvey has done and probably what he will be remembered for most will be him getting peter andrews to "drought proof" his property at the same time those responsible for water in our country are desnagging creeks etc, peter andrews and his son are years late in leading the charge, but light years ahead of most good on gerry harvey for that

Yes, have been lucky enough to see the work Andrews did on Baramul. There was a very interesting story about his work on TV a few weeks ago. Cant remember if it was Landline or where it was tho.

Studbook has his name down as breeder of Casino Prince, Metallurgical, Royal Descent, Lotteria, Delago Deluxe, Arlington Road, Divine Calling, One World. Best of the still active lot seem to be Eshtiraak, Native Soldier & D'Argento. Probably a bunch of others... as you say, he does fire plenty of bullets.

isn't it ironic that in the middle of a very serious drought,the andrews team has rejuvenated properties at the same time, gvt "environmental" experts are overseeing the desnagging of creeks which ultiately will exaerbate the problem, remember back when creeks and rivers nearly always had water except in the times of severe drought, deep rippiing and lasering of land has destroyed the natural lie of the water, so that these soaks and natural "reservoir's"have vanished when my family first came to australia in the 1800's they established an orchard in what is now marginal country that has been cropped for decades and the creek that presumably supplied their water has been bone dry for yonks, gerry harvey is to be commended for his wisdom in seeking peter andrews help and advice pity governments couldn't do the same.
also when i was growing up, there was what was one of the largest freehold stations in the southern hemisphere, (now a national park) that relied on the advice of a well known and respected indigenous employee who advised them when and where to move stock to at various times of the year, during many dry times their stock were always in the pink of condition considering.perhaps andrews and indigenous people could offer far more advice and solutions that could mitigate some of the effects of prolonged dry spells, especially if the likes of gerry harvey got involved at higher levels |

This was done many years ago. I remember reading about it years ago. Hope someone higher up the goverment circle listen this time. We should of been listening to the Aboriginals from day one. They survived with little shelter so know a lot more than we who hide away from the elements ever will know.
They may be able to help in a drought but I don't think even they can stop one. But if they say get your cattle somewhere else surely we should listen.

exactly furious, the old saying nature knows best is very true, and australia's earliest people certainly knew the signs to look for.and the person i am referring to was renowned and respected,and i was fortunate enough to know him for many years
if one was to looking build a home on acreage, no better way to find the best site than to watch sheep cattle and native animals, they will always find the warmest place in a paddock on a wet wintry day and vice versa
