I must admit l was sceptical about this horse backing up and going up in trip. Too smart for me old mate DK.

Interesting how Weir had him peaking at the back end of the carnival. If they ran the Caulfield Guineas again, in my opinion he'd run a clear 2nd behind The Autumn Sun.

Nothing strange about it MJB.

Th previous trainer obviously had some notion that he was a sprinter, but even my friends, who know nothing about racing styles and the horse himself, could see that he needed at least 1400m.

Plus Sandown and Flemington are perfect courses for him. To be honest the horse should never race under 1400m ever again, but of course, that will not happen.

Good and Fast ran against all the good 3yos this Spring, and ran remarkably consistently. TAS wins the Guineas any way you look at it but Ranier, Wild Planet and this bloke are much better than what TAS faced in the Gunineas. Odd for a 3yo season.

Will be interesting to see what happens next prep.
Will be his first full prep under Weir, as he was transferred mid prep this time.

What was the reasoning behind Weir going down in trip from 1400 to 1200 in the middle of the prep? Did the horse just need more racing? Unconventional approach but it's now paid dividends big time.

I wish I could help you MJB but that was a strange decision, which is beyond my comprehension

His last four starts are a win in the country at 1400m, that backmarker, big finish 3rd at MV, a win at headquarters at 1400m, and a even better win at Sandown over the 1600m.

.C.SHayes first up into the guineas is a good start to the prep, if he has been given the fitness grounding in his pre-training.

I was backing this horse in Sydney. I wonder what Ed O‘rourke, his previous trainer, now thinks of the improvement he showed under Weir

What improvement did he show ?

That was the trajectory the horse was always on, just the crook gets to take the credit.

There's absolutely no question Weir dramatically improved the 3yo.

Legitimately or otherwise is what some will question, and his performances this Autumn will most likely provide some kind of answer.

I'm no expert but I liked this horse from the start - seemed to be a talented but lazy type who dramatically learned to put real effort in under Weir.

Statement from the owners:

We would like to thank Darren Weir and his exceptional staff for their continual hard work during this trying time. With great excitement we would like to confirm Ringerdingding has joined the Chris Waller stable and will be racing first up this weekend.

Okay is he staying in Melbourne?

The horse is at least four lengths better, the Melbourne way of going, why does old matey Chris need another horse!

Havent the owners heard of Hawkes, Ellerton Zahra, Price, Kennewell or McArdle.

These poor bastards must be wondering what they have to do to grab a good horse!

Hawkes would be my choice. Smaller stable and more time to attend to the horse.

Well, aside from my thoughts on it, "opening at Ballarat" is very different to Waller himself moving into Ballarat.

Waller’s strikes me as the sort who won’t stop until he achieves national domination. For his part Maher seems to be assembling a huge team, has just opened a stable in Sydney and looks to have ambitions of his own. No surprises they, along with HHD, are getting the cream. The demise of a mega stable will simply benefit other mega stables.

Mega stables

Now is the time to look at what is the appropriate size any trainer should be licensed to train?

The bigger the stable the harder it is be fully responsible for every aspect of their business.

Peter Moody looked almost relieved that his juggernaut stables were sold off and he was able to reset his priorities.

Maybe even Weir might welcome the break to reset his priorities!

Sometimes you get too big and are swept up in a wave of invincibility and your morals and ethics just get lost in the tsunami of success.

Look at the way the mega banks seem to have lost their way over recent times.

"Nothing in the world is so powerful as an idea whose time has come"

Okay I might be stupid here, and I know we have discussed this before but I am sure this is wrong.

Ringerdingding has 58.5kilos tomorrow. He has won a group 2, and a listed event.

Extra Brut has 57.5 kilos tomorrow. He has won a group 1 and been placed at open wfa group 1 level.

Extra Brut has a high rating for 108.

Ringerdinding has a high rating of 95.

Am I missing why Ringerdingding has a kilo more. He has to be the worst weighted horse I have ever seen. Combined with the barrier if he wins tomorrow I can't see how they beat him in the Guineas!
