I suspect Mr Yoshida's pockets are far deeper than say Mr Messara's.

There is a simple solution AA. If one of the great Australian studs thought she was worth as much as the Japanese did, then they could have bought her.

I wonder if there is a clause in the contract that she be repatriated back to Tazzie once they are finished with her or she is a shy breeder and not up to their expectations? What do you reckon? You know what they do to horses in Japan? largest killing fields in the world along with Macau, Malaysia and Korea....fiddlesticks.

That stinks. As much as she did for the owners, who picked her up cheap. Could they have not kept her here and sent her to a good stallion ? After she won millions for them. Not like they couldnt afford the fees. Not like there is a shortage of good stallions in Ozz. Why sell her off ?? Studs would be begging to get her to one of their stallions. Nasty. Hope Minnie doesnt go that way. |

Mystic Journey, the inaugural winner of The All-Star Mile, will have a race named in her honour on the undercard for next year's meeting at Flemington. The Mystic Journey (2000m) will make its first appearance on the support program at Flemington on March 19, three years after her All-Star Mile victory at the same venue, it will carry prizemoney of $200,000 under set-weights-and-penalties conditions for fillies and mares and is one of two new races on The All-Star Mile race day. The other is the VOBIS Gold Comet, also worth $200,000, which will be for sprinters aged three years and older, with the first edition to be held over 1000 metres down the Flemington straight. The VOBIS Gold Comet is a new addition to the lucrative VOBIS Gold Premier Race Series, which is now worth more than $5.2 million in prizemoney with bonuses across 19 races this season. Only open to VOBIS Gold-nominated horses, the VOBIS Gold Comet will complement the $200,000 VOBIS Gold Reef (1600m), which was won earlier this year by the Shane Fliedner-trained Air Defence and returns to The All-Star Mile Raceday program in 2022. The All-Star Mile undercard will also include two $200,000 quality handicaps, renamed The Regal Power (2000m) and The Mugatoo (1600m). However, unlike The Mystic Journey, which will retain its title, at this stage The Regal Power and The Mugatoo, which honours the past two All-Star Mile winners, will only feature in 2022, with a rotation policy set to determine those two race names in the future. Both quality handicaps will feature a maximum topweight of 61kg, with a minimum weight of 53kg, and The Mugatoo is designed to provide a suitable racing opportunity for any All-Star Mile emergency runners who fail to gain a start in the marquee contest. "The inaugural running of The Mystic Journey is set to be one of the many highlights on The All-Star Mile Raceday at Flemington next March and, whilst the fourth running of the world's richest mile will be the showpiece event, we are very pleased with the spread of races on the support card," said Racing Victoria's Executive General Manager - Racing, Greg Carpenter. "The VOBIS program, with the outstanding support of TBV, is going from strength to strength, so we are delighted to unveil the new VOBIS Gold Comet and I look forward to seeing some exciting sprinters explode down the famous Flemington straight, which celebrates its 150th year of operation in 2022. "We are now less than three months out from The All-Star Mile and the sense of excitement is already starting to grow, so today's announcement will only add an extra element to the build-up." |

A grand mare no doubt. Which begs the question. Horses that have come out of Tassie that were champions. A few come to mind immediately like Alfa and Sydeston. Any others?

Mystic Journey retired Champion Tasmanian mare Mystic Journey has been officially retired. The inaugural $5m All Star Mile winner will be retired to the breeding barn despite returning to form during the spring carnival where she placed in the Lets Elope Stakes, Rose Of Kingston Stakes and the Empire Rose Stakes. Mystic Journeys maiden G1 win came in her three-year-old season when she upstaged the boys in the Australian Guineas at Flemington. The Champion Tassie mare raced 28 times and amassed over $4.1 million in earnings. |

Bur irrespective of the above, one gets the feeling that she's suffering a fair bit of wear and tear and another prep might simply be beyond her.

Each to their own. Were she to race in the Autumn she'd still have 4 1/2 months to let down before the start of the breeding season.

I am like Sister . I dont think it does them any harm, and quite a bit of good, to have a spell before breeding them. Just my old fashioned idea. Not that I have been a breeder myself, but I have sure watched a lot of others , for better or worse.

Unless she has issues it's an unusual time to consider retirement.
Too late to get in foal this season meaning if retired she'll just hang around in a paddock for the next nine months. |

Damn I would've loved for her to get a win at Flemington in her last prep and she came oh so close (yes i was on). I guess the rest of her career was a little underwhelming after her three year old season but jeez she was flying at Flemington that autumn. To sit three deep and do what she did, only champions can do that.

Tamanian mare Mystic Journey may have run her last race, with connections to weigh up her future in the coming weeks. The Adam Trinder-trained six-year-old had three starts in the spring, finishing runner-up in the Group 1 Empire Rose Stakes and placing in the Let's Elope and Rose of Kingston Stakes. "She's in the paddock and we are still to have a meeting if we do continue forward," Trinder told Tasracing. "She has been a tremendous mare for us, she's done her job and owes us nothing, so that conversation has to be had. "But she may go out a retired, sound prospect that's got a fantastic record." Mystic Journey returned in the spring after an operation to remove a bone chip halted her autumn preparation. An $11,000 yearling purchase by owner Wayne Roser, in 28 career starts the daughter of Needs Further has won more than $4 million in prizemoney, highlighted by victories in the G1 Australian Guineas and the inaugural All-Star Mile in 2019. |

Great to see Adam Trinder get this mare racing so well, especially after some were calling for her to be retired after the autumn. Not sure what else there is for her this spring but shes in great form. Probably the Summoned Stakes 1500m for F&Ms on Zippping Classic would be a nice race to close the Spring off for her.

Didn't she sit on speed or close in the Australian Guineas?
I thought she was labouring up the straight, but she came very late and obviously looking for the mile. Looks like an all Tasmanian Empire Rose this spring!

One we have a small share in has recently undergone similar surgery, though less invasive being only one knee and a small fragment (but which could cause further damage).
Surgery and the next 4 weeks boxed and small walk out area. Now another 4-6 weeks in a small paddock. And not sure thereafter until after scans and light exercise. However he'll not re-enter work for at least four months following surgery, and it'll take another 3 months to get him fit to race. So seven months from surgery to resuming in a race. So Mystic's resumption in September is do-able but pushing the boundaries imo.
