In reality you could gather a whole heap of questionable aspects on any industry and cram it into a 45 min piece of TV.

Jaundiced and oddly defensive view that. If you're in the industry or a punter surely you want to see racing cleaned up - unless you're corrupt or a supporter of corrupt or careless trainers of course. Unsurprisingly, many comments I saw like that were accompanied by the standard bogan ABC bias tosh. It's possible they wanted to do doping but found few who would comment. Brissenden was out of his depth - either didn't think the topic was heavy enough, or just didn't care. It missed the mark because it didn't have focus.

It can be viewed on ABC Iview if you want to form your own opinion.

If what we witnessed was the standard of reporting required, year 8 media class could do it.

There is no question that particular 4 Corners episode was poor.

Why anybody would want the same mob to handle a bigger fish is beyond me.

Well it is not really, We ALL know 4 Corners is usually superior to that.

Not unless it somehow involves a celebrity bust-up or a miracle cure for back pain.

The Murdoch press could have a go- no doubt concluding its all due to too much tax and too many foreign horses.

Anyone see today,s news report of a mass grave of greyhound bodies found on a property in western Sydney, along with other dogs in a dreadul condition ?  Seized by the rspca, from a licenced trainer.
Looks like all the procedures supposedly in place arnt working too well ?  Cry

DISQUALIFIED trainer Stuart Webb has been fined $2000 after pleading guilty to recklessly causing injury to former Aquanita director Peter Howell during an altercation.

Webb, 50, had charges of intentionally causing injury and unlawful assault dropped and he escaped conviction.

The Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court was told how Webb’s “angst arose out of problems in his business”.

Webb trained for Aquanita until the race-day doping scandal that led to his four-year disqualification at the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board.

Webb is appealing the ban at Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal after being found guilty of the doping charges.

He, I & several others prefer to have as much as possible in the one thread as it's far more interesting to read back thru'. Some topics have up to 10 threads on them so info is mixed between them all & no way am I going to check each out Angry
I do appreciate an alert for any thread that can be merged before there are 10 - 20 posts as each has to be done singly.

Racing Victoria plans to disqualify at least 81 Aquanita starters following a major stewards' investigation.

The investigation 'analysed the available evidence with respect to 395 incidences' before deciding that 81 horses face disqualification because 'of a prohibited administration at the relevant track on the relevant date'.

No decision has been made on what happens to prizemoney each horse won and RV could pay out winnings to owners cheated out of prizemoney if the stewards' final decision is to disqualify the 81 horses.

The managing owner of each starter will now receive a show cause notice about the findings and be asked for a response, before stewards decide final penalties.

Included in the list of horses facing disqualification is Politeness, who won the $500,000 G1 Myer Classic in 2015, while other notable horses included are Mosheen, Shamal Wind, Members Joy and Black And Bent.

Senior Aquanita staff, including trainers Robert Smerdon, Stuart Webb and Tony Vasil and registered stablehands Greg and Denise Nelligan, Trent Pennuto and Daniel Garland were each disqualified following a VCAT hearing.

RV's Executive General Manager of Integrity Services, Jamie Stier, said text messaging between the banned staff proved crucial in stewards' findings.

"Having considered all the facts, the stewards are satisfied that they can clearly identify 81 starters that were the subject of a prohibited administration and thus they have today written to the managing owners of these horses at the time of the relevant races, or their representatives, to afford them the opportunity to state why their horse ought not be disqualified from the race in question," Stier said.

"As people are aware, text messages between the disqualified persons were central to the RAD Board and VCAT's findings regarding the participants' improper or dishonourable action or practice, however, these texts often referred to multiple horses or lacked clarity around which horse was the subject of said practice on a given day."

Stier said of the 81 now facing disqualification, 24 horses won their races.

"Of the 81 starters for which a preliminary determination has been made that they be considered for disqualification, 24 were winners, 24 were minor placegetters and 33 were unplaced, with the prizemoney won by each varying from $300,000 to none at all," he added. "As it stands, more than half of them won less than $10,000 in the race in question."

A long time has passed, and what criminal charges has been laid against Weir ? Such was the beehive of rumour, he was going down for everything except Treason, but as the old saying goes, "rumour is apt to be wrong". The number of people who claim "inside mail" on police investigations, on the internet, is astounding.

Max, he has been charged and the matter is before the courts

Weir is charged with 10 offences, including conspiring with McLean and Kermond to defraud Racing Victoria stewards between October 24 and November 17, 2018, and six counts of animal cruelty relating to thoroughbreds Yogi, Red Cardinal and Tosen Basil on October 30, 2018, at Warrnambool.

Its alleged the horses were tortured, abused, overworked and terrified when jiggers, or conducted energy devices, were used to shock them while they ran on a treadmill wearing blinkers, causing unreasonable pain or suffering.

Weir is also facing two counts of being a prohibited person to possess a firearm.
