He's in the listed 1800m race at Ascot on Saturday and looks thrown in at the weights yet hasn't come up favourite, surely this is his race?

Nice to see this former G1 performer get back to the winners circle at Ascot yesterday in the Towton Cup.

I only listened to the race in the car but it sounded like a strong front running performance.

Makes perfect sense given that Lindsay Smith was the horses original trainer back in Perth.

Hasn’t really fired this spring so far. Guess they’ll try to go for the MV Cup & then to the Mackinnon Stks again.

McLean has a terrible record when it comes to breaking the rules.
How can you trust him

Xavier ? That's total crap!! The horse must be a decent animal! And must be trained good to produce!! They are simple facts. What is going on with inquiries? Proves that this horse was not involved and probably if anything comes of it? You will only find a small percentage might be involved!! To many fantasies getting told at moment.

All Weir and McLean have been guilty of is having jiggers on their premises. Big deal. It's not a hanging offence. If the penalty fitted the crime they should only have got 6 months. It's the dopers I'm more concerned about and to my knowledge there has been no evidence of them doping. While jiggers are not allowed they are really no big deal. While I agree if you do the crime you have to do the time, the whole overreaction and mob outrage is sickening. I'm sure there are much worse trainers out there than Weir and McLean.

Right then. Still doesn’t change the fact that McLean is a cheat.

After a tumultuous week, embattled trainer Jarrod McLean heads to Caulfield on Saturday with his Group 1 star Trap For Fools, who is set for his first run for 2019 in the Group 3 Carlyon Cup.

The Mackinnon Stakes winner of last spring was to be transferred to the Caulfield stables of Robert Hickmott amid allegations of wrongdoing but after Monday night's show-cause marathon it was determined that, in the interests of justice, McLean should be permitted to continue training his team until the upcoming hearing is completed.

RV has placed restrictions on McLean, however, and has banned him from accepting any horses into his stable that had been under the name of Darren Weir at either his Ballarat or Warrnambool stables.

Weir had his charges heard almost immediately before the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board on Wednesday as he was not contesting the charges, but McLean will fight the four charges resulting from last Wednesday's raids at Ballarat and Warrnambool.

McLean is to face four charges including one of possessing a jigger, two of failing to comply with directions or answer questions from stewards and one for bringing racing into disrepute.

It is not expected that the RAD Board will hear the charges before next week at the earliest, to allow the legal teams to properly prepare.

Traps For Fools, who will be ridden by Damien Oliver, is rated a $7.50 chance with Beteasy to secure the 1600-metre race first-up.
