Winx Half-Brother Retires to Stud Unraced
Media Release - Friday May 18
Snitzel - reigning Champion Sire, Australia's highest priced stallion, super sire of 83 stakes winners including 13 Group One winners with progeny earnings in excess of $105 million.

Vegas Showgirl - stakes winning sprinter who has produced one of the greatest of all time, the mighty Winx - winner of over $18.9 million, successful at each of her last 25 starts including three W.S Cox Plates... short priced favourite to win a record-breaking fourth.

Combine the pair and the Group III winner El Divino is the result... but sadly he passed away before realising his full potential.

Boulder City shows the good looks that made him a $2.3 million Inglis Easter yearling

But he does have a full brother and that exciting young horse - Boulder City - makes his stud debut at Russell and Caroline Osborne's Riverbank Farm, Benalla this spring.

"The decision to retire Boulder City to stud before commencing his racing career was a very difficult one," said Russell Osborne.

"He has had a number of minor issues that were becoming harder to manage and after the devastating loss of his full brother the owners decided to meet the market demand and offer him at stud.

"Everyone involved would dearly loved to have seen him get to the race track and have the opportunity to emulate his big sister - however we believe offering his superior bloodlines to the breeding industry is a great thing for breeders."

Due to stand at a fee of $5,500, Boulder City is the first son of Snitzel retired to stand at stud in Victoria and that fact alone will see him in demand with his New South Wales and Queensland based sons such as Shamus Award, Sizzling, Sooboog, Spill The Beans and Wandjina serving large books.

Snitzel

Snitzel

What an amazing year Snitzel is enjoying, since the start of this season represented by the big race winners Redzel, Russian Revolution, Trapeze Artist and Estijaab... four of the country's best sprinters.

Then there are the Group winners Dracarys, Sweet Redemption, Jukebox, Menari, Showtime, Perast, Snitty Kitty, Lubiton, Eptimum, Thronum, Arbeitsam, Muraaqeb, French Emotion and Sprightly Lass as well as the Listed winners Snitzepeg, Nomothaj, Goodfella, Untamed Diamond, Snitzkraft, Calanda, Traces, Sandbar, Prairie Fire and I Am Excited.

Most stallions will be considered high achievers if that is their overall record - but that is just one season, and one that is not yet over, for Snitzel!

Little wonder then that his fee has been increased from $176,000 last spring to $220,000 this year.

A member of the flourishing Danehill sire line, Snitzel is of course a son of the three times Champion Sire Redoute's Choice, influential sire of 157 stakes winners; 32 Group One winners and 19 sons who have sired stakes winners in Australasia alone.

With Boulder City's half-sister Winx racing on through the spring and his dam Vegas Showgirl booked into visit Japan's superstar stallion Deep Impact, it is onwards and upwards for this exciting young horse's pedigree!

A $2.3 million Inglis Easter sale-topper purchased by Gai Waterhouse and Julian Blaxland, Boulder City is described by Russell Osborne as "a beautifully conformed stallion who we feel privileged to offer to the Victorian breeding industry."

For further information on Boulder City who stands alongside Redente, Skilled, Wayed Zain and Von Costa de hero, contact Russell Osborne on 0423 768 155.

Enquire about Riverbank's special deal with service fee including routine reproductive veterinary fees (conditions apply).

There was a pic of mother and foal in the Melbourne Sun this morning.
Breeder says she looks just like Elle Macpherson, just like Winx did.
Good looking filly with very long limbs

I saw that pic and story too.  Reckon she was on her feet in minutes , just like Winx.   Whats she worth, given the Deep Impact/Winx factor and a filly ???

Thanks Slowdown.  When I took the mare to him to be served, I was really impressed with him, not only his looks, but moreso his temperament.  It was mid November in his first season and he'd been serving all season and he just calmly walked into the breeding barn, nicely said hello to the mare, did his job but Russell wasn't happy that it was a good enough job, so made him do it again Big smile   He had no trouble performing the second time either.

My Vet had set the mare up very well for it to be successful (PG and Ovuplant) and she was indeed pregnant from just the one visit.  She had lost one the previous year before I got her, so fingers crossed that we are now less than 2 months away from the pitter patter of tiny feet.
