From a friend who said:

"PS could be going to the Queen Anne according to the trainer. Buick jumped off and said he was world class. But always a risk as he had a few sheep lose in the top paddock. Cracksman was bloody huge. Won’t be beaten over 2400m this year baring bad luck. Forget the opposition. I brilliant run is a brilliant run full stop. Only a novice doesn’t understand this. I’ve explained how Winx leg speed is off the charts- for Cracksman it’s his length of stride. Two of the largest strides we’ve seen in recent years are BC and Frankel- both peaked at 26.5ft. Cracksman is already just over 26 feet. Huge"

Hello,
I had a look at the starters of "1000 Guineas" (fillies) today (8-10 hours behind your time).

I noticed 2 listed runnes "Billesdon Brook", "Anna Nerium" are descending from "Anna Oleanda" (Helmet/Epaulette) to Anna Paolo, a German damline  and further back to Adria.

Soliloquy has an AUS/NZ damline tracing to Cinna.

regards, Ticino

While this should go in the North American Thread...

German bred A Raving Beauty (GER) (Mastercraftsman (IRE) - Anabasis (GER))  won the G3 Beaugay Stakes at Belmont Park, NY, USA in fine style.

Previous start, 2nd in the (G1) Premio Lydia Tesio in Rome, Italy.

Also the G1 Man O' War Stakes was won by Hi Happy (ARG), who back in 2015 won the G1 Carlos Peligrinni but was not successful on the West Coast in 4 tries but has come around after winning the G2 Pan American at Gulfstream Park.

High class internationals seem to beat the locals on turf - and that is no surprise!

G2 Middleton Stakes 4YO+ F&M 1m 2f 56y Coronet (Dubawi - Approach) was many times seeing the tail of Enable last season, but returns this season bursting through with 2f to go and with Dettori easing her down. Won for the 1st time since Royal Ascot and don't be surprised if she shows up there again!

G2 Dante Stakes 3YO 1m 2f 56y - Roaring Lion (US) (Kitten's Joy - Vionnet by Street Sense) returned to winning form as the 3/1 fav. Eased down to the line. Breeding is outstanding. Unfortunate that the dam passed away this year. Gosden trained and will be looking forward to Epsom!

Listed Westow Stakes 3YO 5f Main Desire (IRE)  (High Chaparral - Purple Glow) Lightly race filly winning for the third time straight! Had not run for a year since winning 2YO Listed race at York last year.  12/1 !!!!!

Fri:
Listed Marygate Fillies' Stakes 2YOF 5f
Listed Micheal Seeley Memorial 3YOF 7f 192y
G2 Yorkshire Cup 4YO+ 1m 5f 188y

Listed Micheal Seeley Memorial 3YOF 7f 192y - Threading (Exceed And Excel - Chaquiras) won as 1/1 fav after two withdrawn at the gate (including the favorite Sheikha Reika)) and only 4 ran. Returned to winning form on the track she won last time in August.

G2 Yorkshire Cup 4YO+ 1m 5f 188y - Stradivarius (Sea The Stars - Private Life) started the 4/6on fav and arguably could the best long distance runner in Britain today. Won by 3 lengths. Last year won at Royal Ascot before winning the G1 Goodwood Cup and finished of with a 3rd in the G1 St. Leger and a third on Champions Day in the G2 Distance Cup. Royal Ascot beckons with a shot at the Gold Cup!
Of interest Max Dynamite finished a fair 4th and Wicklow Brave led but then tired to finish in 7th.

Mark Johnston favouring Dee Ex Bee for Investec Derby tilt

Mon 21 May 2018

Mark Johnston believes Chester Vase runner-up Dee Ex Bee is more likely to run in the Investec Derby than Dante second Mildenberger.

Both colts are owned by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, with Dee Ex Bee having finished second in both his races this season by a narrow margin, chasing home Crossed Baton at Epsom and Young Rascal at Chester.

Mildenberger won the Feilden Stakes at Newmarket, but was put in his place by Roaring Lion at York last week.

Speaking of Mildenberger, Johnston said: “The owner also has Dee Ex Bee, who is in the Derby. He ran really well at Chester and I think if one of the two runs, it is more likely to be him.”

Another Classic contender for the yard is Elarqam, who was fourth in the 2000 Guineas and he will now head to the Curragh on Saturday.

“Elarqam should go to the Irish Guineas and all is great, couldn’t be better,” said the Middleham handler.

“We had an open mind. Sheikh Hamdan spoke to me a few days after the Guineas and he was most concerned how the horse had come out of the race.

“The answer was he had come out well and I did think he would be sharper for it. He said ‘let’s aim for Ireland if it all goes well’ and that’s where we are going.”

German 2000 Guineas Cologne 1600m

Ancient Spirit (Invincible Spirit - Assisi) starting @ 20/1 absolutely creamed this field. Mid race he just when around them in a grand sweep and just powered down the straight.

The Oaks looks a bit lacklustre. I wouldn't be surprised if a longshot gets up and as a result am having a few dollars e/w Ejtyah who I think can improve a lot with a quieter ride than at York.
