Looks to be on the Puissance De Lune trail this spring, a light autumn and back for big races next year.

This is a good guide for this owner, as to how good they think the horse is, because the connections obviously feel he can carry the extra weight next year, by winning the Bendigo Cup and Queen Elizabeth this spring.

Has done everything right so far!

I just watched every one of his races and he has perfect racing manners and tip top ability. He is going to race himself into a very high rating.

They have seriously missed the boat  by not having the Caulfield Cup on the radar.

He wins the Bendigo Cup and the Queen Elizabeth or what ever the final spring target is and he will be on 105+ when Summer comes along.

Are they also going to skip next autumn to save themselves for next spring ?

Lucky For All is another that is not entered for any of the Cups.

Our trainers are far too conservative with our staying prospects.

Rekindling was having his 10th start when winning the Cup. Sure he has not been seen since but at least he has a Cup on the board.

He's still only an 'actual' 3yo I believe djebel, there's no need to gut him yet against older horses.
Allow him to furnish & mature & I'm sure he'll cope well with any increased weights.

In fact he is a month older than what Rekindling was. Smile

You'd know as well as any they all mature at different rates & shouldn't be forced.

I agree should not be forced but he races in perfect formation doing everything right.

I think they are wasting a season for no good reason.

We all know a week is a long time in racing. Anything could happen in the next 13 and half months.

Barrier one again. I can see it being sick bag material. If gets the slightest bit held up and best of days has got a full head of steam it's all over.

It was a great win and was holding the second horse on the line. Snagged the tri a few times with the roughy running third so can't complain.

That is twice he has failed at 2000m.

I suspect he either does not stay or he is sick of racing by the time he gets to 2000m.

I'd freshen him up and nominate him for the Kennedy Mile. If he does not get a run so be it.

Ran okay but a little below his best. Either doesn't quite run 2000m or trained off.

Agree - may have reached his level for now too. Leave it to the trainer to make that decision, he seems to get it right from time to time.

If not, maybe a bit longer in the paddock, and have a crack at the Villiers - lots of fun to be had with a 4 yo gelding if it turns out he's adept at the Randwick Mile.

Whichever way they go, they were patient till now, don't want to be too greedy.
In reference to every post in the Trump thread ... "There may have been a tiny bit of license taken there" ... Ok, Thanks for the "heads up" PT!

They are going to push on to the Bendigo Cup.
Out in trip and a bigger track, seem to think that will be to his liking.
Would prefer he was to draw out a little, barrier 1 does not suit his style.

Agree. Weiry’s horses are mostly trained to settle and run on. He seemed to race too keen at Cranbourne, leaving less in the tank at the business end. The Bendigo Cup has always been his Grand Final. We will find out if he stays then!

Watching the replay it was just an ok run. Amazed to see that he started favourite in a G3 1400m race!

He’ll definitely be better for the run & up in trip next start. He’s got talent, just not sure what races on the calendar will suit him.   Maybe an Easter Cup 2000m at Caulfield next month?
