Melbourne Cup 5th placegetter has been purchased (in part) by Darren Dance from Australian Theoougubred Bloodstock. Will be staying with the UK trainer and he will return again in spring for another crack at the cup

At his first start back under ATB ownership, Nakeeta ran 10th of 16 beaten 15.75 lens in last nights Chester Cup over 3700m.
Admittedly 1st up since last years Melb Cup, but a pretty inglorious performance. |

It was inglorious but not a very competitive ride too.
Carried about 60.5 and was ridden out the back on a tighter and quite possibly worse track than Moonee Valley. I would say it was simply a clean out and would not rule him out of his next start.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the winner out here for the first Tuesday in November. Magic Circle owned by Marwan Koukash who is always looking for a Cup runner. Will never get over Moores ride on Mount Athos!!!

First emergency in the Moonee Valley Cup.
I hope he gets a run and then gets into the cup. |

Given the dreadful form he’s been in this season, it’s astonishing that connections even bothered bringing him down for the Cup this year.

That’s a little harsh IMO. Sure his form could be better but I wouldn’t say it was dreadful

Dreadful, deplorable. Use whatever acronym you like but he’s hopelessly out of sorts. Probably came down to Aust as a desperate bid by ATB to get a 2018 Melb Cup runner this year for marketing purposes. Hopefully he doesn’t make the final 24 field. |

Don’t get me wrong Tilly, Darren Dance is a fantastic contributor to the Australian racing scene and buying a qualified Melb Cup runner is very good marketing for the ATB brand. Just be a shame if some in form horses like Libran & Prince of Arran miss out on a Cup start at his expense. I know you’re in a few other ATB horses, so love to know what went on in bringing him down again this year? Is he staying in Aust this time? Also like to know what happpened to your horse Ca Plane, as he’s been a wonderfully consistent horse this year. Shows as being transferred out of DKW’s stable. Have you sold him to another stable? |

No dramas.
I’m not sure of the plan with Nakeeta, probably going to target the Queen Elizabeth and Sandown. The original UK owners still own half so he will possibly go back home. As for Ca Plane, he was moved on from Weirs. Not up to the stables standards. Options are to either send him to another stable or he will be sold to a jumping stable - we have had some interests from a couple of stables. |

I don’t think he is going to.
One of the owners pages says he will now go to the Queen Elizabeth in two weeks |

Managed to sneak into the field at the last minute.
After watching ATB TV on the website, it appears the connections believe he did not handle the track at Moonee Valley. Prebble opted not to take the ride so they booked Bayliss on standby. Will need to improve, but has handled Flemington before. Could be one at bolters odds to sneak a place. |

I bagged the horse earlier in this thread, but congrats to connections on the 12th place prizemoney. Acquitted himself much better than I thought.
Defiantly worth pressing onto the Sandown Cup 3200m in a few weeks time. |

I do not understand why Europeans who obviously like racing here, are not kept here and raced in Australia.
Surely a Matt Cumani or a Jeremy Gask who have had training experience with European staying preps could get the best out of these horses here. Nakeeta was doing absolutely nothing before the cup yet he ran 12th or 13th. Imagine what he could do in a Sydney cup or a Auckland Cup. He will go back, do nothing for ten months come over and try and grab a spot in the field and not make it next year! |

Noticed this two-time Melb Cup participant is still banging around in the UK. He runs in a 2800m Hcp tonight at Ascot under 64.5kg. Probably trying to go to the Ebor Hcp again but looks like Aussie connections have sold out their share in him.
