If it was not for racing peoples anti jumps protester tweets nobody or very few people would even know this was going ahead.

Jumps fans should thank the protesters.

It will not be missed.

Musgrove dominated at Oakbank.

Disappointing performances from Fledged and Now and Zen.

I think Renew is also looking for retirement. Hasn’t coped at his past two Oakbank runs. Been in terrible form this prep.

Monarch Chimes took the shortcuts and just falls in for Victory.
Big effort from Now and Zen, bottled up, gets to the outside and just misses.
Trouble Bound and Dormello Mo not far away.

Bring on the Brierly

You have to wonder why they would not put him the maiden hurdle. That 2nd was at Point to Point level, which does throw up great National Hunt horses from time to time.

Noticed that there was a jockey called Ross O’Sullivan who had several rides at the Cranbourne jumps trials today.

It’s a name I’ve never seen before. Anyone know anything about him?

A quick google seems to show an Irish jumps trainer by the same name, who is married to Katie Walsh (sister of the great jumps jockey Ruby Walsh). It’s not the same Ross O’Sullivan is it?

Great to see old STRIKE THE STARS win the maiden hurdle at Hamilton today.

He’s taken a few goes to finally break through for his first win since October 2013, when he was trained by Anthony Cummings.

Amazing to think he was Group 1 placegetter, having run 2nd behind MOSHEEN in the 2012 Australian Guineas!!

Bold Bandit going the better of the three travel mates. Clondaw Warrior and Ivan Grozny not coping with the warmer weather. Will be better next year.

Noticed 2 interesting debutants in the hurdle race at Gawler today.

Good old TUNES is having his jumps debut at start number 107. He’s been racing pretty well on the flat this campaign and has been trialling for years, so should go well.

Former leading apprentice JACKSON MATTHEWS has his first ride over the jumps as the jockey of Zimbali for Travis Doudle (who himself had a brief stint as a jumps jockey too). Good luck Jackson!

Yes definitely 2 brilliant jumps races today at Sandown.

The favourites in each race are well under the odds in my view. GOLD MEDALS had a heavy workload at the Bool Carnival and has to lumber 69kgs. SELF SENSE looked ok at Pakenham but he did only beat EPSOM HILL who is ordinary - $1.80f, no thanks.

I think in the steeplechase, I’ll go for THE DOMINATOR to win following his dashing exhibition last start. I see DONT BE SHY as a sleeper in the field, so will have her each way too.

In the hurdle I think DANE HUSSLER can improve sharply to beat TWO HATS & SELF SENSE.
