If what he is doing is illegal and/or dangerous it should be stopped, but this was an accident and the match review committee saw it that way He tackles like that all the time with no problem. On this occasion a player is wrong footed and falls into his head, as happens with a lot of ball and all tackles around the chest.

I can not agree with that. If he is doing that all the time than it is important the NRL stamp it out much like the shoulder charge being stamped out. The Shoulder charge itself was not dangerous but when a defender was wrong footed or missed timed it than it was very dangerous and as such was ruled out of the game altogether. Dylan Napa went into that tackle with absolutely no care and in todays day and age that is just not acceptable. |

He smashed Lodge early in game with same tackle, difference was Lodge didn't try to move at very last second. Game is becoming so soft

Anyone see the Rory Arnold hit on the lions player sat night? similar to napa but not as ferocious, 3 weeks previous good record stopped him from getting six, ARU think a bit different to the piss weak NRL imo.

Disgusting tackle.
Just think Sam Burgess got 2 weeks for a forearm to the chest a few weeks back Napa was 10 times worse |

There is a clear problem now! It's like the shoulder charge as far as I'm concerned - he has to change his technique or be rubbed out. Can't wait to see the kiddies in the park on Saturday morning copying him ... the Mums will tear each other's throats out!!!

There’s zero doubt that it was an attempted shoulder charge gone wrong
Bad luck, should have been a hefty suspension |

Not sure you would class it a shoulder charge. He leads with his head - the hardest part of the body - and at an angle that if he misses, a shoulder will make high contact anyway. It is clearly designed to cause injury, and should be out of the game. Terry Randall used to have a similar technique, but he aimed low, and almost snapped players in half - he almost never went high - that style of low tackle has been coached out of the game, the only way they are encouraged to tackle today is to go high and wrap up the ball. BTW, I'm not a fan of the ban on the shoulder charge - I think it is OK if it is executed properly, and again, if there is no high contact - get it wrong and get 2 months would be fair ...

All true Dr but if you look before the collision as Simms side stepped, Napa was leading with the shoulder and attempting to wrap his arms around as they are now coached to do to avoid a penalty.
Simms moving off line avided the shoulder charge that was coming and end with the horrific result. The blame falls squarely on Napa It's yet another consequence of coaches trying to by pass the rules of the game to the games detriment |

Spot on Shrunk - that's why I applauded the referees' crack down on penalties ... I think the game is producing more spontaneous football - I have to admit to actually watching more games as a consequence, and some of the tries from the weekend were dazzling

Not sure about that Dr E. I think the goal line attacks have been quite conservative as a generalisation this year. The reason is simple - why take high risk scoring plays when you can just keep pounding the line one out with quick play the balls & get 20 to 30 cracks from penalties. I do agree their have been some cracker mid-field tries though.

for once Doc, I am totally with you...James Graham broke Sammy's eye socket with the same "tackle", which is so far removed from a tackle it should be rewarded with a very lengthy suspension... Nick Politis rules, though.... |

"an accident"....geez, you chook supporters live in some weird world...the only "accident" with anything pertaining to Napa is when his mum forgot to take her contraceptive pill... |

Watched both games yesterday, can't believe how the bunnies have improved, new coach, fresh outlook and playing running football, marvellous when marquee players can play their natural game it can lift the others. [LOL
Panthers brilliant, imo both teams into g/ final.] |

Refs are hard to follow most times. . These things happen in a mini second and they aren't playing "hop scotch" . let it flow and only pull it up if some big advantage is gained. We aren't paying to listen to referees having a moment of glory on a whistle. |

I hate the bunker being called on to rule on putdowns with tries. You have no confidence that downward pressure will be judged the same even in the same game. Roosters were not awarded a try on Friday night with a Titans player judged to have regained possession and forced the ball when clearly it was a finger in contact with the side of the ball and then with the next one you see them roll video back and forth and from 17 angles before saying that a hand rolling off the top of the ball and down the side doesn't constitute enough downward pressure.

Add Maloney, the "turnstile" to our defensive "wall", and our forwards will have to do twice the work of the Maroons no names. Jimmy the Jet will need to score 5 tries to give us a chance.

We've finally got a halfback- hallelujah- NSW dominance ahead. Can you imagine if Queensland had lost as much as we have in the last 12 years. They would have changed the rules to annex PNG, England, all the PI and NZ as part of Queenland by now.

Mitchell and Roberts are not origin standard players, their defensive errors are one thing, but at club level they drift in and out of matches. Euan Aitken would have been a better selection than Roberts.
I am a huge fan of Peachey, but he can also drift in and out of matches. As Ikin said on Foxtel last night, SOO's are usually won with an 80 minute effort. If Queenslands forwards can match NSW, then Queensland are still favourites. |

Our forwards will be working overtime plugging the holes our backs will leave - Qld forwards don't need to be as good as ours and they still win. Hope I'm wrong of course!
