I'm a Panther supporter & have always loved Cleary. Must say however that at the moment he should only be described at best as "a good solid number 7". Not sure he deserves all the hype he is getting

Absolutely.
Cook played his best game last night too.

His defensive efforts (along with Cordner and Co) were all better than Slater's.

A reminder of the days when Wally Lewis only had to turn up to get man of the match.
I have no issue with Slater getting Man Of The Match. Had a great game in the winning team. One disallowed try after a few minutes (brilliant effort), & always around the ball both in attack & defence (not bad for a fullback). Think he only dropped one ball & that went backwards. I agree Cook had a great game. Agree Slater should not have received Man Of Series award

In an even NRL match ,   NO team can cope with a 7 to 1 penalty count and win. ( a couple late made it 8-3 I think )
Great entertainment game & the better side won the series.
It is a pity the game has such controversial referee decisions ,   Will take the "joke game" away from soccer the way they are going.

How does a back win a Man of Series, let alone a Man of Match in Origin?

Cook or Cordner (who I have never really been a fan of) clearly best over the 3 games, and both were instrumental in the Series Win - which was achieved in the first TWO GAMES fiddlesticks ... should the dead rubber even count???Confused

Heard that the judges for MOS were Meninga, Lockyer and Daly? ... pleeez, just raffle it amongst the Cane Toads! ... Ermm

NRL Amateur Hour once again ...Wacko

Big comedown tonight , from Origin to the shockers of Parramatta / Newcastle .   Hopeless , both of them.

I put a few dollars on Parramatta .... what a waste. 10 nil to 10 all at half time.

Good to see some of Haynes old brilliance emerge in patches.     When the dumbo's passed the ball occasionally.
What a waste that lot ....
Newcastle won narrowly and are just as bad .      I think the NRL need to reduce the team numbers to improve standards .

AFL "nail biter" was even worse - Caaaaarlton (last) v St Killa (4th last).

Coming into the game, they had played 30 games between them for 4 wins.Sleepy

Still can't work out how the Blues won a game! ... that are awful.

Very interesting game tonight Broncos v Panthers, Broncos would be filthy with last weeks result, Panthers happy to have their SOO boys back to consolidate top 4 finish, I'm hoping a win for Panthers to keep in touch with leader board.

I am a raiders fan, and they would not have deserved a place in the finals if they made it.

But if that touch judge is not dropped to reserve grade next week for the rest of the season, then our officials ranks are in poor shape.

How did the "blundker" over rule the No Try? ... both the linesman (closest to it) and the referee thought it was a knock on ... as did the player who knocked it on and gave himself up!!! ... not a single replay was conclusive - ref's call maybe, you Grand Standing Nuff Nuff?Wacko

... oh, and of course, the last pass was thrown 3 meters forward.Dead

The game is fcuked.

With the blatant mistakes by refs lately one blow on the pea can turn a game on its head, it's been a common theme lately and punters would be pulling their hair out because of incompetence by decisions, panthers had no ball last night in the first half and had their arse kicked, second half 18pts each that's the only way I see it lol, their too good a team to let that game bother them imo.

The refereeing is appalling.

Purely incompetence but the errors so obvious.

The Bronco's got a bounce of the ball last night like you won't see again.
The back line reshuffle is good ,none the less.
I picked 3 to back = Bronco's and missed getting on so left the others.
Eels & Roosters...       always the way.

Tough comp to pick,   =      The winning Referee.

I can sort out all ref problems. I have devoted 3 minutes of my time to the issue which equals 20 years of NRL admin brainpower.Wink

1 ref, without headphones, without video assistance unless a team challenges
2 touch judges
2 in goal judges

2 video challenges per team. If you get a challenge right you keep it.

Let’s hope so. One of the teams I backed prior to the season starting.

Let’s also hope they let Manly in for another couple of trys. I’ve backed both teams using promos. Both score over 20 wins on both sides.

I'm not up with NRL, but why was it Storm lost a Premiership for rorting the salary cap, whereas Manly only got fined for what appears to be a 5-year period of transgression starting in the year of a premiership success?

Have played the following games with this promo this weeke:

Cowboys/Knights - can someone tell me why Knights didn’t kick for goal from almost in front to go up by 14 with 30s to go in the 1st half? The peanut taking the quick tap has ended up costing me.

Manly/Penrith
Rabbits/Eels
Titans/Warriors

Just a heads up, a bit of self promotion, so forgive me.

Tomorrow morning from 11am I will be talking about the NRL's issues with my partner John Carney, Todd's uncle.

Some of the issues we will cover will be video ref/bunker, salary cap, two refs, the issue that most rugby league fans would rather watch a local match than a match in the NRL, lack of leadership in the NRL administration and other issues.

From 11am on 103.3fm Goulburn Community Radio, which you can listen into through our live stream through the TuneIn site.

Now resume normal posting.

Goulburn .... I've Been legless in the "Gordon" a few times Voyager.
A very popular watering hole ,   Back in those silly Hockey days .

Great Country/Regional area and I still Have lost Rellies in the area.

Had some memories refreshed not so long ago when an Auntie ( Elizabeth Naughton's )Memorial was stolen and found dumped . ( Her tragedy happened before I was born.   Nurse Naughton’s font found in Canberra alley | Goulburn Post
