Isn't it nice seeing Star Shower and Sir Dapper in a pedigree like this.  Sir Dapper was one of my favourites in the 1980 with his battles against Emancipation.  While Star Shower was a brilliant 2yo with speed to burn.  One won the Golden Slipper and the Spring Champion Stakes and had stakes wins from 1000m to 2100m while the other won the Blue Diamond.  But very few pedigrees would see them on the page today.  So I find it both interesting and nice.

Absolutely a freakish run today.
Lucky to stay on all fours after Ef Troop came across and speared into her.

She kept her mind on the job ahead and gave him a cold in the straight.
We'll be seeing a lot more of her this year on that run.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left

No she had a AJC win and second but it was her three year old career where she ran in stakes races with a win over 1600m in a LR.

As a 3YO she won the Listed Crown Lager Stakes (now G3 Alexandra Stakes) when it was run in the spring.

I thought she may have started in the early season 2yo races.

I always remember her racing in the same crop as Show County and others.

Very relaxed and professional for a 2yo. That combined with her racing pattern and obvious ability will make her very competitive in the big 2yo races.

Stable going very well but get the sense it could be on the verge of something big. Certainly the ambition seems to be there.

Top runs at Rosehill Saturday had to be shared by Sunlight & Estijaab.    Getting over the 1100 in best of 4 races over that distance.
Pointer for the Golden Slipper.    Every bit as impressive as the Blue Diamond winner in Melbourne.

Even better Macca, pretty much every article about the race is about how Estijaab was a better run than Sunlight. Keep buttering up on the horse who actually wins whether she leads or stalks rather than the allegedly unlucky and you'll make plenty!

GOOD ADVICE was from the famous Pittsburg Phil,   Winners keep on winning , losers keep on losing,    Most run pretty true to their form when we allow for the luck in running , rider decisions , suitable draws etc.
As Mrs Barnaby said, only recently , Thoroughbreds are much more reliable than the Spouse.

I liked how both attacked the line, ears back head down, but must agree Sunlight is my pick, you can always make an excuse when beaten.

Real GS form to beat Gongs by a margin.

A very professional filly but let's remember she won a MM by 2L (from a 100-1 pop) when half the field including the second fave was taken out.

Many seemed convinced those two fillies have the measure of Written By by I'm not.

Written By did it at both ends from a wide draw & was dominant to the line.   The Slipper is wide open at this stage IMHO.

Few decades ago Macca I had a new flatmate who developed a sudden interest in horse racing. He read one of PPs books and promptly went out and backed a 10/1 winner knowing virtually nothing about form class etc. All pretty much based on winners winning. Don't know how he went subsequently because I politely asked him to find alternative digs when he bought a dog and it dragged its bum around the floor.

She ran one fast sectional 1000-800, then coasted home in 35+. Written By had to run 5-6l fatser over the last 600m to hold off Sandbar. Advantage Sunlight imo but I won't be surprised if neither wins.

Price was extremely pleased with his filly although the form wasn't franked today by Into The Abyss
