Should Labor do as the LNP have done Isaac...take the cash, give them what they want and generally kowtow to the Chinese?

Should the Giles NT CLP govt have been charged with treason handing the Port of Darwin to the Chinese for 99 years?

Id Andrew Robb a Chinese spy?

Coalition solicited foreign donations after introducing new laws banning them

 By Eryk Bagshaw

The Coalition solicited thousands of dollars in donations from Chinese donors a month before laws banning foreign political donations came into effect, a year after they first introduced the legislation to Parliament.

A Beijing and Sydney based business migration agent made two donations worth $30,000 in total under different names and three different addresses to the Queensland-based Liberal National Party, according to records held by the state and federal electoral commissions……

Isaac, what the hell is going on here? Why weren't we told about this? What else hasn't this tricky deceitful govt told us about? Shocked

Chinese warships arrive in Sydney Harbour for stopover

The Australian government is playing down a visit of three Chinese warships and 700 sailors to Sydney Harbour, only 24 hours before the 30th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre.

A People’s Liberation Army frigate, auxiliary replenishment ship, and an amphibious vessel are due to dock at Garden Island Navy base today, for a four-day stopover.

Love how you bring the china thread to prominence...again pt.

Are you going to watch the history lesson that is Tienanmen Square tonight on...4 Corners?

All that hope so rudely and cruelly snuffed out.

Sad.

Do you think the Chinese arrival today was known as Morrison said, or did they just turn up?

Someone had to bump the thread. You are neglecting it.

Where would china be without the western world to copy?
The surveillance cameras used thirty years ago in Tienanmen Square were developed and made in AUSTRALIA and Germany.

Chinas chance at democracy.

Why did they reject it pt?

Tiananmen Square 30th anniversary: How China erased iconic 'tank man' image for young people

It is one of the most iconic photographs of the 20th century: an unidentified man stopping the advance of a convoy of tanks through Tiananmen Square.

Key points:

  • Today is the 30th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre
  • In 1989, the Chinese military broke up student demonstrations in the square
  • China strictly censors public discussion of the protests and the subsequent massacre

"Tank man" only stared down the Chinese military briefly, but he entered the history books as a universal symbol of peaceful resistance.

Thirty years after the government's crackdown on students who filled the square demanding democratic reform, many young students today have never seen the photo.

Those who have seen it are reluctant to discuss it in public.

In 1989, the main student district in Beijing's north-west, Haidian, was a hotbed of political action.

But today's students have grown up under a government that refuses to teach the history of the Tiananmen Square uprising — referred to in China as "June 4th".

Tiananmen Square footage of lead-up to massacre shows joy, defiance and cake

A trove of footage from the weeks leading up to the Tiananmen Square massacre shows scenes of joy and optimism on the streets of China that have not been seen since the Communist Party's brutal killing of its own people 30 years ago.

On the night of June 3, 1989, the People's Liberation Army turned its guns on students and ordinary Chinese who had been calling for a democratic future for the country.

For weeks the students had been camped out in Beijing's Tiananmen Square as part of their protesthttps://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-06-03/footage-shows-joy-in-china-before-tiananmen-square-massacre/11157040

Hey Isaac did you make it to Sydney to see off the Chinese Navy today?

Have we found out the circumstances they were here yet, and whether Morrison knew they were coming?

They are preparing an offer for submission to Clive, to buy Sydney Passenger Terminal, the Harbor Bridge and a block of flats in Tasmania.
In reference to every post in the Trump thread ... "There may have been a tiny bit of license taken there" ... Ok, Thanks for the "heads up" PT!

Was it a coincidence that they arrived while Morrison was in the Solomon Islands promising $250m in infrastructure spending to counter Chinese investment there? The Solomons is also one of a few places that for the time being supports Taiwan diplomatically.

No idea what you are talking about Isaac.Confused

Solomon Islands are deciding whether they are going to maintain support for Taiwan. China is throwing money at them to influence them. Australia goes there and makes a counter offer, China comes here to send a message.

As you asked pt......

Have you been following? Very sad. Go Hong Kongers Thumbs Up

ust five days ago, tear gas wafted over central Hong Kong.

Key points:

  • Thousands of young families attended the protest, saying they were worried for their children's future
  • Protest organisers estimated more than 2 million people turned up for Sunday's rally
  • Protestors are concerned the Government will revive its extradition bill

Rubber bullets were fired at student protesters who were furious about the Government's controversial extradition bill.

It's hardly the sort the place you'd want to bring the kids.

However, Sunday's massive demonstration struck a completely different tone.

Amongst the enormous crowd, estimated by organisers to be around 2 million strong, were thousands of young families.

Billy Hong brought his two-year-old grandson Jacko to the protest.

The little boy clutched his grandfather's hand tightly as they moved through the crowd.

Mr Hong said he was concerned the Government would revive its extradition bill, despite suspending it on Saturday in the face of widespread public outrage.

"That's a really evil law," he said.

Hong Kong's Chief Executive, Carrie Lam, had maintained the bill would prevent criminals from seeking refuge in the city, however opponents say it would allow the Government in Beijing to clamp down on dissent.

Mr Hong said he had a duty to stand up for young Hong Kongers, like his grandson.

"It's about their future. We go out and fight for their future," he said.

VIDEO: Hundreds of thousands pack the streets of Hong Kong (ABC News)

Dorothy Lau and her husband Timothy brought their daughter Emma to the demonstration.

The two-year-old seemed unfazed by the enormous crowds.

Ms Lau, who grew up in Hong Kong, said she was not sure her daughter would enjoy the same level of freedom she had.

"As a Hong Konger I believe the situation is getting worse," she said.

Many of the protesters were concerned about Beijing's growing influence in local politics.

Others, like Sunny Ye, were concerned about the level of force used against protesters on Wednesday.

"We want to let the Government know we are not happy about what they did to the students," he said.

Mr Ye said he hoped Sunday's protest might help heal any damage done to Hong Kong's international reputation.

"When people see so many Hong Kong people come out, so peacefully, it may be good for us," he said.
