Interesting to hear bigal, about 10 bets or so a day. Thanks for your answer. More or less confirms my own observations, value can be found, but selectivity is required.

of course the more meeting the more the bets.......

BUT sometimes I might have 20 bets in a day but only back "12 horses".

selectivity yes..... but I am not looking at "value bets"..... I could have a horse rated at $5-00 but it is an even money favourite. I back it because it Simply meets my system rules, I am not betting to rated prices like a lot of others using ratings would.

I expect you are talking about horses being selected more than once, by multiple systems. I was just interested in the number of unique selections, and I can see you have arrived at around the same scale of numbers as myself, but your average odds would be a lot shorter.

Ditto that, Bigal, that idea ( framing a market) is silly-bugger business, by my calculations, in fact I would be more inclined to back a horse that is unexpectedly shorter.

I guess its all relevant.....40 to 50% win s/r (as I have) and you would surely be betting into the sharp end of the market.
I could easily get way better average dividends by going way wider than what I do, but to the detriment of strike rate which in turn leads to larger runs of outs and much larger drawdown.
Although I take emotion out of my betting, it can still get you down when you hit the run of outs/ larger drawdowns.

I'm a little surprised you'd be unsettled by the inevitable losing runs, though one has to guard against changed circumstances that may have rendered a method less effective, or even ineffective. The best system in the world probably would not save some punters, who when the losing streak strikes, will, like a cur to its vomit, go back to "studying form" or whatever they did previously, that did not work.

This is the result off the computer for $100 bets (best of 3 tabs/SP) for 23-12 to 3-1-18.... it goes to show, you got to shop around, make some wise choices, and you can increase your profits dramatically.....

I think that's a bit harsh on some of the great threads that members have posted on here over time. I am sure I have posted a couple of other threads that have generated good profits as well.

we were with relatives for dinner tonight so I did not hear see or anything after 5PM. That's where a double bet hurts...when its so unlucky.
