Wouldn’t be surprised if Lloyd sold him in the next 12 months

I can not see the point in wasting a whole however he does so we have to live with it. I suspect the one run campaign is just to keep the horse/s ticking over, keep the compatitive nature of their lives up to scratch. |

Why is this horse rated by Timeform Aust as a 3yo? He is a 4yo in the SH and surely should be regarded as such by the rating firms.

Im regards to his rating....what is it?
|

Australian racing is only good up to 1400m in terms of world standards when it comes to depth/quality in numbers

They must simply be displaying his 3yo rating due to the fact he have never run as a 4yo ?

Returning to the UK
2017 Melbourne Cup winner Rekindling will travel to Hong Kong on their way back to O'Brien's stables in Ireland, but he is unsure whether either will start. Latrobe carries an entry for the Hong Kong Vase (2400m) but Rekindling, who has not been seen for more than 12 months since his Cup success, is not entered in any of the international features for the December 9 meeting at Sha Tin. |

Just read that Lloyd gas nominated him for the All Star Mile in March, along with the likes of ALMANDIN & J.VERMEER.
Seems very un-Lloyd like to consider running his stayers over 1600m, especially when the 2000m Australian Cup is on a few weeks earlier. Surely that would be a better autumn starting point? Hopefully we get to see REKINDLING heading towards the Sydney staying feature races like the Tancred Stks & Sydney Cup. |

Interesting to note that the horse has been coughing since this morning.
Was scoped this morning at home, no issues found. Scoped again after arriving on course and no issues found. Cleared to run. |

Probably not going to win anyway.
Hard to tell, hasn’t started in over a year. Who knows how fit he is, that’s something you can never tell when it comes to Lloyd’s horses. It’s a mystery. |

Rekindling could be fresh from 6 months in a paddock and his natural stamina would have him fit enough for 2000m.

If he was trained or owned by Joe Blow in a Maiden, stewards would’ve scratched him.

Sold by Lloyd to a European stud - presumably a National Hunt operation.
A shame we never saw much of him after that Melb Cup victory. |

2017 Melbourne Cup winner Rekindling is back in training for Joseph O'Brien.
Part-owner Lloyd Williams told Racing.com last August that Rekindling had been retired to stud but the six-year-old son of High Chaparral has been given another chance on the racetrack. Rekindling has raced just once after becoming the first Northern Hemisphere three-year-old winner of the Melbourne Cup, finishing last in the Group 1 Australian Cup (2000m) in March 2019. "It's great to having him back in the yard," O'Brien told Racing Post. "He had a couple of setbacks in Australia but he's back home and training well. "We're looking forward to the year ahead with him." WATCH: Rekindling's Melbourne Cup win Rekindling raced three times as a two-year-old for David Wachman before joining O'Brien and winning three stakes races in 2017 the following season – the Group 3 Ballysax Stakes (2011m) at Leopardstown, Group 2 Curragh Cup (2816m) at The Curragh and Group 1 Melbourne Cup (3200m) at Flemington. "He's still a young horse and when he won the Melbourne Cup he was only a three-year-old," O'Brien said. "We thought that there might be a bit of fun to be had with him and hopefully he can have a good season back in his old regime and facilities." Yucatan, prepared to memorably win the 2018 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m) by Aidan O'Brien, has joined Joseph O'Brien's stable after failing in two Melbourne starts for Liam Howley last September while 2018 Irish Derby winner Latrobe remains in O'Brien's care for the Williams family. "Latrobe previously didn't get the run of the race in the Melbourne Cup when he last ran. I'd probably do things differently with him again but we're excited for the year ahead with him," O'Brien said. "He (Yucatan) is another nice horse to have in the yard. He's had a few little setbacks previously too but hopefully he can do well for us. "Nick and Lloyd Williams have been fantastic supporters of mine and they look to have a nice team of horses." |

The 2017 Melbourne Cup winner Rekindling is a 7/4 chance to post a win at his first run since March last year at Leopardstown in Ireland on Saturday. Rekindling has raced once since his Melbourne Cup triumph, finishing last in the 2019 Australian Cupat Flemington. Owner Lloyd Williams shipped Rekindling back to Ireland to stand at stud but the son of High Chaparral returned to work at trainer Joseph O’Brien’s stable. O’Brien told Betfair he has taken a long, slow approach to Rekindling’s return to races, which will be in a handicap for amateur riders over a mile and a half. “It will be great to get Rekindling back on the track,” O’Brien said. “He'll always be a special horse to everyone here and it was a real thrill for him to be sent back to us. He has had some injury issues since his win in the Melbourne Cup, so we've taken our time with him and he's moving well at the minute. “We've had our eye on this race as a starting point for him and it looks a good spot for him. “Hopefully, he'll show some of his old spark and this will be the start of a good season for him. “ Rekindling will carry 11 stone 5 pounds or 72kg in his first-up run. The race jumps at 01.45am Sunday Morning AEST |

Yet he receives weight from horses just out of maiden class! Topweight has 75.5kgs. What are the conditions of this race that sees weights allocated like this?
