That surveillance does a fantastic job of catching crooks.

Sure did a rubbish job of catching this clown and preventing his horrible acts.

So all your surveillance BS is only of value to those with crystal balls? What about why does a local guy require so much luggage? Common sense failure.

How many of the 10 suitcases did he personally take to the room?

My guess none or 1 or 2

A Las Vegas prostitute who was hired by murderer Stephen Paddock has spoken out about their 'violent' sex sessions and how he bragged about having 'bad blood'.

The woman, who spoke anonymously, said she would spent hours drinking and gambling in Sin City with Paddock, who she described as 'paranoid' and 'obsessive'.

If he hit a winning streak, he would take her back to his room for 'really aggressive and violent sex' including living out rape fantasies, she said.

Paddock also boasted about his bank-robber father, saying that 'the bad streak is in my blood' and 'I was born bad', according to texts seen by the Sun on Sunday.

The 27-year-old woman said Paddock, 64, would often rant about conspiracy theories including how 9/11 was orchestrated by the US government.

The escort, who said Paddock paid her $6,000-a-time for their meetings, also had texts in which he described tying her up 'while you scream for help'.

police now conforming he checked in sept 25, not 28. but are unsure if he stayed at hotel in that time. w t f?

and this isa doozie...same oolice spokesmen is saying that sexurity guard was shot before paddock started firing out the window. the original story was that the security guard was alerted to his room because a smoke alarm had been set off.

i told ya this massacre had a whole lot more to it. Its either :

authorities are rank amateurs

or

they are feeding the public wishy washy bs and witholding a lot of accurate info because they are on to something they dont want compromised.

How many people have you met that were not " the full quid " though, they are pretty common and don't attract notice as potential mass killers. There has been nothing said that I've seen, about what his 2 ex-wives might have to offer.

The information flow from "authorities" re what they have uncovered about this matter, could best be summarised as SFA. And what they have released, has been confusing and contradictory, especially about the security guard. And the claim that there was no video surveillance on that floor, seems improbable is this day and age.

Investigators owe it to the families of the dead and injured to do a thorough and complete job investigating this

They don't owe a running commentary to a voyeuristic public who want their bizarre conspiracy theories confirmed

Nah, it has been gelatihouse. The public have only just learnt that he was in the room three days earlier than whatgiven out. Kidding, if they haven't even got that pinned down early on. One gets the impression something is being covered up, possibly a major security failure in that hotel. Time may tell.

vegas mogul Steve Wynn did an interview and seemed to let slip paddock accessed a service elevator which is a major security breach in any rated hotel in vegas. he seemed to realise his "revealing" slip up and quickly reiterated a point he had already made.

I'm getting jack of the comment that he made his fortune from real & estate & GAMBLING. He is being continuously put forward as a professional gambler. Two things don't add up with that claim - firstly he is described as a high stakes video poker player, which by definition would be impossible to beat I would have thought. Secondly, professional gamblers are not usually wined, dined & comped by Casinos as it seems this fellow was. Very odd that they keep saying it

Las Vegas gunman made millions on property investments to fund guns, gambling

Published: October 8 2017 - 4:34AM

To the Texas brokers who met him in 2004, Stephen Paddock was an unremarkable man looking to buy an unremarkable property near Dallas, hardly distinguishable from other casually dressed Californians who flocked to the area to make investments.

After touring the 111-unit apartment complex in Mesquite, Texas, with the brokers, Paddock bought it for $8.4 million ($A10.8m), partly with the proceeds from selling some smaller properties in Los Angeles. When he sold Central Park Apartments a decade later, he had likely made $5 million ($A6.4m) in profits, according to financial records reviewed by Reuters.

Paddock's lucrative real estate ventures, which helped underwrite his high-stakes gambling, may have also allowed him to buy tens of thousands of dollars' worth of rifles and bullets in advance of his attack in Las Vegas on Sunday.

A complete picture of his finances is still being assembled by investigators who are trying to fathom what drove an apparently wealthy retiree to haul 23 guns up to a hotel suite before commencing one of the deadliest shootings in US history.

"He was kind of a scruffy dude," said Jim Hearn, a broker who recalled showing Paddock around the complex of small, middle-class apartments in early 2004.

"Didn't look like he had two nickels to rub together, but he had a few million bucks in an exchange account, which was clearly real, and he did his due diligence and closed the deal."

That purchase appeared to be among Paddock's most profitable investments, which included numerous smaller real estate deals in the Los Angeles area.

The rent from the 111 apartments in the complex gave him more than $500,000 ($A640,000) in net income after expenses in 2011, for example, a sales brochure prepared for potential buyers showed.

He would feed some of that money into Las Vegas video poker machines, which are programmed to favour the house. The extent to which Paddock may have profited from his casino gambling was not clear.

Still, Paddock was considered a high-value player, and casinos rewarded his gambling with perks that included free trips, rooms, meals and other luxuries, his brother said.

He parlayed his way to the Mesquite deal from an initial investment with Eric in a duplex rental unit in North Hollywood, Los Angeles, some 20 years earlier.

They saved up at their day jobs for the initial downpayment, Eric Paddock said in text messages to Reuters, dismissing online speculation their father, a convicted violent bank robber with whom they had little contact, stashed loot away for his family.

Los Angeles county records show Eric Paddock bought a North Hollywood building in 1986 for $407,500.

In the years that followed, Stephen Paddock bought at least five other properties in Los Angeles. He would also buy a stake in a tract in Henderson, on the edge of Las Vegas's fast-growing sprawl, that remains undeveloped to this day.

In early 2004, he sold or transferred at least three rental units in Hawthorne, near Los Angeles International Airport, according to county records. At least one of those properties had more than doubled in value since he bought it in 1992, selling for $3.2 million.

Those sales lead to what appears to be his biggest deal, per public records: his purchase of the Central Park Apartments in Mesquite, paid for with a mortgage of $3.5 million and $4.9 million largely in proceeds from the California property.

Thomas Warren, another broker in the 2004 sale, recalled Paddock as unkempt in appearance. "But again, that's not all that dissimilar from the bunches and bunches of folks coming from California with money," Warren said in a telephone interview, adding that he became accustomed to wealthy West Coast buyers showing up in shorts and flip-flops.

"I remember him as being odd," Warren said. "He wasn't an engaging person." But nor was Paddock the oddest or scruffiest buyer who ever showed up in Dallas, Warren said.

Not only did Paddock buy the complex, he ran it as the manager and lived onsite as a way of holding expenses down, apparently keeping his own books on a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet rather than pay an accountant.

His brother said the pair had been thrifty from the start, describing how they gutted and renovated a 20-unit building in Los Angeles largely themselves. Caring little about appearances, they bought cheap clothes from Walmart.

Stephen Paddock sold the complex in November 2012, for $9.45 million: $1 million more than he paid. His former wife, Peggy Paddock, and his brother Eric were partners in the venture, although the brother declined to say what share of the proceeds they took.

"We made enough money to do what we wanted to do in the rest of our lives," Eric Paddock wrote in a text message. "We all retired."

A few years later, according to the police account, Stephen Paddock began amassing much of the arsenal he would need for Mandalay Bay.

I did see some claims he was in debt to loan sharks. I'd be pretty confident he was not making money from gambling, how much he was losing is the question.

No impulse act, and nothing to do with gambling, been long-planned, as the reports he scoped other venues that hosted big crowds, near hotels, in other parts of the country.

Even that link you posted PT contradicts itself re his gambling. 0n one hand it says his real estate investment funded his Vegas gambling.....but then under the picture of the video poker machines he apparently played it says he "made large amounts of money"

Again Max have often read that he was highly intelligent.... even a mathematics genius. Well maybe....however does not line up too well with playing video poker machines all day. Don't think any of those skills help doing that !

With respect, 1-1, I can't see it being the act of a bloke that went off his cruet because he ran out of money gambling.
This bloke appears to have been organizing this very methodically, for a long time. Not something addicted gamblers are noted for.

She may not be giving an accurate account of what went on in her relationship, either. I doubt she'd say she was in it for an earn.
