Very tough race. I've backed half the field in the last couple months. Results in order Humidor, Bonneval, Ventura Storm, Amelie's Star, and JV and Harlem are money back. Basically I have no idea.

Not saying the trainer is on this occasion but history suggests it is not the Stewards. |

Trainer says she was not lame, so where does it say she was treated, don't know how many horses would react to a flex test after a race but there would be plenty, hope she can run up to her best to clear the air, imo weighted good thing, JV the danger IF he can back up. |

I'm sticking with her - was a standout a week ago and had excuses on the weekend.
Will save on the favourite but she's a standout bet at the price. |

Trainer knows her far better but have thought for a while now that not having a distance run under her belt might make her vulnerable. But that was based on her 3yo form which got better with hard racing.
JV looks hardest to beat but price and possibly barrier (unless they use it to get a position early) don't inspire.

Vets constantly are derided for 'seeing something which doesn't exist' but 9/10 times are proven correct!
Have we forgotten the protestations over Jukebox being deemed too sore to race? Where there's smoke................ & the checks are there to protect all, including the horse. |

Yeah we can't argue given the result. The drift said it was more than just a fussy vet as well.

Doesn't matter if so. It's frequently termed a "compensation injury".

Surely off to the paddock or breeding barn now?
Would be shocked if they ran her at Flemington.

Bonneval straight to Sydney
Reigning New Zealand Horse of the Year Bonneval won’t race in New Zealand before an autumn campaign in Australia. |

I agree with this. If she wins The Tancred Stks handsomely, would you: 1) spell 2) QE2 Stks 2000m 3) Sydney Cup 3200m |

The racing career of New Zealand’s top mare Bonneval is in limbo.
Injury has ended her autumn campaign with time to tell if the multiple Group One winner returns to the track “There was some swelling around her fetlock joint this morning and a scan has confirmed a suspensory ligament issue,” said Andrew Forsman, who trains the reigning New Zealand Horse of the Year with Murray Baker. |

Shocking luck, I was looking forward ( like many others) to not only seeing her tomorrow but through the autumn carnival, scans may show hope but too good to risk, motherhood beckons more than likely.

Encouraging update on Bonneval
The recovery signs are looking good for the side-lined New Zealand Horse of the Year Bonneval. The multiple Group One winner’s proposed autumn campaign in Australia was halted by a suspensory ligament issue, but the outlook is encouraging. “We had another scan done 10 days after the initial scan and things look fairly positive at this stage,” said Andrew Forsman, who trains Bonneval at Cambridge with Murray Baker. “She'll have a good break and hopefully, all going well, we can get her back to the track in the spring.” |

I was looking forward to Bonneval in Autumn. Let's hope some of the imports come good for the 2000+ races because there's not much to get excited about at the moment apart from Winx (Kementari I guess.) Not much coming from NZ this year either is there? I've been out of the loop a bit but haven't heard of any rising stars.
