Would you prefer international trainers and owners take it instead? Or are you hoping for a single gaze or Whoshotthebarman type horse to win?

It is sad but I can't see where any Aussie horses have missed out on run

Prefer it goes to grassroot owners.

The Melb Cup has effectively become an Everest over 3200m - u just buy a slot (o'seas horse that is $1.5m+ & qualified or close to it).

Dont have the answers but something has to balance out - he will have 10+ runners one year.

What are they doing with Our Century? Nommed for the race yesterday, and the Geelong Cup. Accepted in neither. Pulled out of the Sydney Cup because in Nick's words "we think he's a bit better than that", and now? Zipping Classic? Meantime they're sending Gallante around. Frustrating.

Think he’s had some setbacks.. they will use him as a lightweight chance next year..

Gallante is their pace in the race when there possibly wasn’t any, until Cistomante qualifies

I thought his last start run over 2000m was good (and unlucky), and screamed of a horse looking for more ground. I'd understand if they'd had setbacks, but they nom him and don't run. Then do it again the next week. In fact, they do it a lot.

Don't get me wrong, I'm generally a fan- someone in this country needs to show a commitment to stayers, and they've raced some of my all time faves- but a little more info surely would't kill them.

With the way they do things is it possible they nominate for certain races well in advance and only scratch at acceptance time? This would explain the seemingly dud nominations.

So where to for Lloyd’s 2017 runners:

REKINDLING - apparently Lloyd want him to win 2018 Ascot Gold Cup, so we probably won’t we him again. Perhaps a replacement for the ageing Order of St George

J.VERMEER - Staying in Aust??? Would be great to see him in the Tancred Stks and QE Stakes in the Autumn.

ALMANDIN - not sure, will be hard to place. Stick to WFA, eg: Tancred Stks & Sandown Classic type races.

US ARMY RANGER - really not sure why he was brought to Australia for the Cup to begin with! Probably on the plane back to UK.

BONDI BEACH - looks to have lost interest in racing.

GALLANTE - needs wet tracks but not sure the will to compete is still there.

That's for sure.  As mentioned above reckon they'll keep him here and aim for the Queen Elisabeth Stakes in the Autumn.
