Didn't the trainer and jockey mention the Cox Plate and said something like he was the next So You Think last week?

Nothing like that CG. Bowman was prompted by a tongue in cheek question from a presenter. Look back earlier in this thread if you want to know more.

Shawy I do think $3+ was fair. They were never going to give us $4.5-$5.

Yeah on the day being the key phrase. He doesn't know how to let down. He has lengths on that winner but was waiting for him to show him what to do.

In time he'll come good this one but he can't win stakes races while he waits like that. Leader got 12.38 mid race and that was always going to leave him with plenty to offer.

Yes if you allow Gai's horses to get cheap sectionals in front you won't run them down.
Still not convinced Calculated is group level yet. But he can improve.

Think both are group level.

Bowman should have put that race to bed when he ambled up to them, instead he took the pretty boy option and was bloused.

It's obviously in the eye of the beholder but even allowing for the Sat/midweek and distance diffs at their second runs, Brave Song improved significantly more than Calculated imo.

I was on Brave Song, thought it was an excellent win and have taken the $101 in the Golden Rose.

That said, I can't say with any certainty that he has improved more than Calculated with that win. I assure you there were no Siege Of Quebec's in that race. It was a weak race and he needed to do that to them.

He's certainly one of mine Brave Song

And yes that is Calculated form. But it is also Marble form.

I knew I wouldn't be home to bet so hit him yesterday at $4.
After scratchings I get $2.04. Less than the starting odds.Ouch
But he looked an odds on chance to me before scratchings anyway.

Can't wait to see the likes of Calculated, Brave Song, Marble, Siege Of Quebec etc all in the one race.

I started with nothing and still have most of it left

Hopefully the Ming Dynasty next Saturday which I believe is a 1400m handicap. That sounds a whole lot more suitable.

What do we do with him today?

Blew a gale first up to suggest he had no hope, but he ran very well for a good 2nd to an in form horse. Much better suited 2nd up 1200m here and sticks at Randwick where he looks best suited.

Maps terribly and his jockey is in shocking form with a race fix inquiry hanging over his head. Not the man I want making decisions under these circumstances.

All that said he has laps on these. If it was up to me, I'd be telling Shinn to ride him in a position where he is in his comfort zone, even if that means he's caught deep. I think he can afford to sit 3 deep and win, but he may not be able to sit last and win.

Sunline, the horse has class to burn but i am staggered with the placement by Waller.

He wins today on hope rather than judgement.

6th start and yet to see a mile.

Ive had a race to race blake shinn allup - calculated & princefamous.

on the the later...im subscribing to the theory that weight is overrated in sprint races. wont get an easier race to get back in winners circle. a bush horse is vying for favouritism (dont tease me) .

He needs to do a course with Japanese and European trainers.

He is a typical Australasian trainer.
