I think Anthony and Edward have a really progressive stayer on their hands in Roman Son.

His two wins this prep suggest he has really turned the corner as a racehorse and is now realising his potential. His last start win was really good. He didn't beat much but he put them away with an excellent turn of foot.

He's bred to be a good stayer - by Bart's Derby winner Roman Emperor, out of his decent old stayer Miss Meliss who ran in a Cup. Bred to love 2400m+ but with that turn of foot he can be a really nice horse.

Will love the step to 2200m in R5 at Warwick Farm tomorrow and he has drawn well with the services of McEvoy. Needs to step up again but he is on a sharp upward spiral to do just that being a 3yo stayer of only 7 starts.

A couple of handy ones in it, nothing special. Napoleon is a handy import but has only won 2 from 25 and is a 7yo. He's a month between runs and unlikely to be improving on what he has shown so far, but that admittedly is more than Roman Son has done in lesser grade.

I'm on at $4/$1.80 and beyond tomorrow I'll be following.

Hope you're right. He still doesn't look quite there physically - the head on at Newcastle showed he was still narrow and gangly, but he put them away well. Just wary against the older more seasoned horses today, third up at the 2200m.

James did a very good job with this bloke - great to see Bart's colours still going around.

Outstanding win. He has lots of upside. Those on the breeding forum would be aware that I have been spruiking Roman Emperor for some time and they are really hitting their straps. Two runners for two winners today with Gold Denari also saluting at Gawler.

Well spotted Sunline.

Another very strong win, handled the rise in class with ease. Love his turn of foot that gets him out of a sticky spot.

Really progressive.

How good was the acceleration at the 100? Put two lengths on then in three strides. Kerrin was soft late.

Roman Son's brother, Britannicus. Long last, under the stick ran about in the straight to get home reasonably well. Surprised to see it racing at 2.

Does it have ability?

No idea - but I like reading Stewards Reports and they wrote an epic about this horse on that day. Thought his last 100m was encouraging.

Another tick Sunline. In case you hadn't noticed the runner up at RS's last run, which took good ground late, is nommed for Tamworth Friday. He doesn't have a winning profile but might be worth a look.

That was some run first up for the new stable. Potentially a Brisbane Cup horse?

A horse I have a small share in was in his race yesterday so I watched him closely. Always liked this horse and good to see him kick off the prep really stylishly. Has a nice win in him 2000m+.

Can you believe they went up $13 for tomorrow?! He's been smashed. Now into $6.50. If he improves off that first up run he'll be very hard to hold out. Tip Top is a nice enough horse but 61 kilos is a big ask.

How's the confidence levels team? We loading up?

Scratched in preference of Rosehill on Monday. Be ready when the fixed odds come out just in case they go up silly odds again.

Butcher job Jay Ford. Not a city standard rider. Found out way too many times in town. There should have been one thing in his mind in the barriers. "I've got a massive weight advantage on these. Use it"

But no, he wants to ride nice and pretty. No idea.

The mistake he made was letting Tim Clark come around him and pocket him. But still, the horse was hard ridden at the 600. I don't know what happened there. And then in the straight he got going again but you just don't know what was there. I hate inconclusive runs. They always suck me in.

Looked to be strong in the last 100 metres under minimal riding. Hard one to judge. He should have pushed forward when Tip Top came around him. Keep the favourite working and get yourself into the race with the 53.5. It's common sense really. But alot of jockeys lack that unfortunately. If horse racing didn't exist, most of them would be stacking shelves at Coles.

Barrier 1 for Roman Son on Monday. Poison. A good chance of being a hard luck story. Richard should have ran it yesterday. Track was even. The horse would have made a mess of that field.

It feels like we've been waiting ages for this horse to run. Hopefully he's worth the wait! It's going to be interesting how the track plays. Obviously the other day the fence was quick sand. If it's going to be a repeat, our bloke will need a good ride or if he's stuck to the fence he'll need to be a few lengths better than these.

A little concern l've got now is 1400 to 1800 off a 19 day break. He should have ran the other day. I hope he's not in need of another run now.

I can't imagine the Waller import is going to back up here. Raqeeq. He won last Wednesday.

So what are we thinking team? Loading up?

Agree, MJB. Just needs to navigate a path off the fence early enough. I actually think the step to 1800m is perfect.

No way Raqeeq runs after winning 5 days ago.
