High Chaparral x Makybe Diva 4 year old gelding (sorry djebel)
Nominated for Sandown on Wednesday in a BM64 over 1800m and will wear a tongue tie for his debut.
Trained by Robert Hickmott , owned by Lloyd and Nick Williams
Let's hope he's faster than Taqneen

He was sold at 2014 Easter Yearling Sales for $275,000.

I'm curious as to why this horse, who has never started in a race is weighted on 58.5kg? As a maiden, shouldn't he be on the limit weight of 54kg? Or do maidens automatically get assigned a benchmark rating of 61?

Maidens can get any rating , first starters in a race other than maiden grade are rated around the 60 mark

Lloyd didn't end up accepting with SURREY for Sandown on Weds. We'll gave to wait another day to see if he has any ability.

You'd expect that he has some ability given that Lloyd has hung onto him this long.

Then again, you would have assumed the same about Shadwell and Taqneen.

Actually nice pedigree and it seems he ran true to Makybe Diva's family.  Late maturer.  Wonder what held him back this long though.  Hope he can go on with the job.

No doubt a very impressive win by one with a big future. But Melbourne Cup? Any recent history of a runner after only debuting six months earlier?
