The timing is essentially irrelevant Bob, however more to the point I'm not for a moment down-playing the level of domestic violence in indigenous communities. Because it's clearly far, far higher than in the general population. My point, rather, was to highlight the degree of domestic violence generally within Australia. Suspect it's fair to estimate that the number of pubescent females in Australia is about 1/3 of the general population, ie about 8.5 million. So if 20% have experienced domestic violence (as is generally accepted by both Government departments and social service organizations) we're talking about 1.7 Australian women who've been battered, raped or emotionally/psychologically damaged. Which is truly appalling.

yes indeed T, with all the 'born to rule" crew "representing them and the thou sorry millions of hectares they own or lease between them, the ABC has done a fantastic job in polluting their minds with the "hard left" porn that it peddles, lol, so much so that the only time they see someone with a popint of view remotely to the left of the likes of ghenghis khan, is when a union organiser visits a shearing shed

How many Australian people claim to be indigenous? And how many of them are talking porkies?
One thing for sure, Bob, 11 and I have no real idea, particularly re Q2.

Do not know about that. Going by the number of people in Australia who claim to be of indigenous heritage, I would not be surprised that half those attendees at that town hall meeting were indigenous.

"and by this I mean outback nsw qld wa sa nt etc, where the only broadcaster that is there 24/7 IS the ABC" This would account for the hard left views of people in the bush, take2. Being exposed to the cultural Marxism of the ABC all the time.

Not sure, but as in my previous post, if many if any, have lived in these areas (alice springs apart), and know anything about indigenous people lifestyles past or present, their attitudes to alcohol and family violence, apartt from reading or vision of facts, and opinions
All these Violence Drugs and Alcohol problems exist in the wider community, but you seldom hear about that aspect, it's always the small targets in anything that are subjective to media and political attack, and inuendo then takes a front seat I have attained an education, lived, worked side by side with, and appreciate indigenous australia and australians, and count many as my friends, AND some as relatives, in my lifetime of over 70 years, have never ever heard anything promoting violence drugs or alcohol from any oneof 100's of people that i have known or know. problems as to what is happening in the alice, is no different from the wider australia, where local and state, bodies, attempt to rectify, let the community (black white brindle) work it out with the support of local, state and federal authorities, and NOT from the noise of outside media bigots promoting mistruths or distortions of fact As for hunting and gathering in the traditional sense, in the 21st century. i would love to see that, in fact i was way out west in qld, and miles away (abt 600 Klm or more ) from the nearest cotton crops, but waadya reckon was everywhere?? Cotton Bolls hangin of roly poly's everywhere, empty cig packets and rusting beer cans left there not by indigenous, but white station workers remarkle that the photo above has no trecieved any comment of people being seen sittin gtogether in a meeting trying to attain a consensus on something to do

I only watch the commercial channels for Survivor, The Amazing Race, the cricket and the footy.
The ABC is the only really informative channel as far as news goes. |

while everyone is criticising the ABC for whatever they feel suits current personal opinions, i wonder how many , if any at all, have LIVED in remote australia, and by this I mean outback nsw qld wa sa nt etc, where the only broadcaster that is there 24/7 IS the ABC, provides regional national and international news, also market reports for commodities and produce , and a message source for local and national emergencies
it does all this whilst competing for coverage to all when every asian radio station in the world blares in throughout the day, then, when the sun goes down BBC VOM and every radio station in australia all competing on the same frequencies, bias percieved or real is far far removed from reality of an ability to be a part of the wider world i have worked in all these areas, coopers creek and beyond, heartbreak corner, pilbara etc and believe me they do a great job commercial radio stations exist as well in some of these areas catering to the towns etc, and usully their coverage is pathetic, and there is a snowflakes chance in hell of it being improved, cos it costs too much money for little return, but one thing you always know thats there is the ABC

You know a lot of this violence is because of modernisation of the indigenous, they would not be doing any of this in it's current form if they were still out roaming, hunting & gathering. Alcohol, boredom, self loathing and hopelessness would drive most of us to abuse drink or drugs, especially if you lived in some of the places where this violence takes place. Imagine the dread every morning as you wake with a rotten hangover and absolutely nothing to do for the day, no drive no nothing. Now I have no knowledge of if these people are violent in their pre colonisation state, as nomads/hunters etc.. none of us do, but if I'm going to speculate, the violence might have been in a different form, a cultural/spiritual type of thing, or the usual take care of your wife etc.. This stuff now, this violence is just disgraceful, alcohol, fuelled, boredom and misery. Imagine it, there is no way back to the old ways before white man arrived and seemingly no way forward for most trapped in remote regions, who lets face it, would likely feel very uncomfortable/awkward in a modern fast, white city. It is a problem with no clear answer, however I always look to nature for my answers and if I could offer any advice to indigenous folk in remote areas, it would be to instigate a zero tolerance of alcohol in all indigenous communities, end the misery by ending the tolerance of booze PERIOD. try and find a way back into living thru nature, leave all this crap the gov wants you to have and go find your own way back to your roots, go find love and passion in nature and the environment, go care for animals, go study mycology and native flora, set up things that interest you as a people, teach your art to as many as possible because its some of the most beautiful in the world, change has to start with them as a people, nothing we do or say is going to do a bit of good, it never will.

Stop talking logic. I do find it funny how some define aboriginality by what they see in a photo from a lack of focussed distance. Apparently you have to be as black as the ace of spades |

Remember reading a recent article noting that that 17% of Australians had experienced domestic violence in 2021. And that the actual level would be far, far higher.
That for balance, and without underplaying the level of family violence in the NT.

No person whether they are white, black or brindle and vote for either the ALP, the Liberals, the Greens or the Teals could possibly condone the rape and bashings of children and women in the indigenous settlements anywhere in Australia.

Funny that most peoples views on anything left right up down black white depends on ones political and moral persuasions, anything opposing personal views is seen as bias or tish (that incluides me lol)

Fiddles, I think you had better get down to OPSM to get a pair of glasses, have a look at those 3 blokes sitting at the end of the second row, don't look like supporters of PH.
