Werribee man charged over alleged Melbourne New Year's Eve terrorism plotUpdated 33 minutes ago A man has been The 20-year-old Werribee man accused of the terrorism plot was arrested at a home in Werribee, in Melbourne's south-west, just before 3:00pm on Monday. He will appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court this afternoon charged with preparing to commit a terrorist attack and collecting documents to facilitate a terrorist act. He was described by police as one of their "high persons of interest". Earlier Deputy Commissioner Shane Patton said they believed the man was trying to get an automatic rifle to "shoot and kill as many people as he could" around Federation Square, in Melbourne's CBD, during New Year's Eve celebrations. Police said they moved in because the man had been having face-to-face meetings about getting a gun. The man, who police said was connected to other extremists, did not manage to obtain one, Deputy Commissioner Patton said. more..... |

"high persons of interest" ? How about persons of high interest, and lock them up so they cannot conspire in the first place.

No Beds ... Into community housing is the recommendation. At 20 years this new potential killer qualifies for that. |

I've noticed Lakemba get a few mentions here & in the media so thought this quite interesting:
Drove thru Lakemba at 130 pm this arvo place was a ghost town, only 25 cop cars on sides of road and just about every shop shut, place over run with weeds such a dilapidated place not far from the city. And in case anyone's interested in his progress (fall smashed him up), he has another op. on Monday & continued rehab. A recent fund raiser by Goulburn Race Club was apparently a huge success & he's going well in local poker tourneys |

The numbers say we are being invaded.
The Census has us with 3 times more Aboriginals than 5 years ago. Mostly in NSW & VIC . the numbers didn't vary in the NT. I wonder if Centre Link is the attraction. |

Should give this plick the executive suite at Goulburn with a warm bath and plenty of razor blades to shave or whatever else.... The man who gave the gun to the teenager who killed police accountant Curtis Cheng has been warned his sentence could be affected because he has refused to stand in court. Raban Alou, 20, pleaded guilty to aiding, abetting, counselling and procuring the commission of a terrorist act, by giving a handgun to 15-year-old Fahad Mohammed at the Parramatta Mosque in October 2015. Mohammed then used it to shoot Mr Cheng outside the Parramatta Police Headquarters before being shot dead by three special constables. At a sentencing hearing in Parramatta on Monday, Alou's barrister Matthew Johnston SC said his client did not want to stand for religious reasons. Justice Peter Johnson then read from a document written by the Australian National Imam's Council, which he said contradicted Alou's reasoning. "There is no religious basis to prohibit either standing up for courts or bowing to judicial officers," Justice Johnson said. "Those matters are entirely consistent with religious beliefs … and the application of Muslim faith in courts in Australia." Justice Johnson gave Alou time to reconsider, but Mr Johnston said his client would not change his position. "I took the stance of bringing the Imam publication to the attention to the parties so there could be no misunderstanding," Justice Johnson added. "There may be ramifications for [Alou]." more |

Why wasn't he charged with being an accessory? He deserves the same fate as the 15yr old.

No, he deserves a far longer sentence than the 15 YO. In America they call it conspiracy to commit murder or something like that, and it is as good as murder one. A 15YO can be led to slaughter by the older agitators. The 15YO is still guilty but the bastard who put him up to it is the one we need permanently behind bars.

He was charged wit aiding and abetting counselling and procuring the commission of a terrorist act, and has shown zero remorse, rather defiance. He will never leave prison.

The sentence is far too lenient.
For God's sake , I did 26 years in one stint and 10 another time and my only crime was I married twice. The only reason the 2nd penalty was so lenient was they allowed for the mental damage that would have been caused my the first. |

Florida high school shooting leaves 'numerous fatalities,' superintendent says; suspect in custodyA gunman opened fire at a Southern Florida high school today, leaving "numerous" people dead and sending students running for their lives, Broward Superintendent Robert Runcie told a local ABC affiliate. I heard 2 luvvies on RN yesterday wittering on about "modest fashion". The female Muslim designer saying her decision to wear cover-up clothes was entirely her choice. Yes, sweetheart, because you live in a non-Muslim, secular Western democracy- that's how we roll. The ABC interviewer never mentioned that obvious point.

Ask her about one of the most oppressive regimes Saudi Arabia, one of our best strategic and economic friends?
They are actually going through a massive social modernization and economic liberalization program under MBS.

CAR PARK BOMB: Police may detonate mystery device2nd Apr 2018 10:09 AM UPDATE 11AM: AT LEAST one of the people allegedly sitting inside a car containing a suspicious device is known to police. The suspicious device was contained in a cardboard box in the passenger footwell. Queensland Police Senior Sergeant Gareth James said Safe City cameras noticed the car's position and suspicious activity by its two occupants. A man and woman, one who is known to police, sitting in the silver Nissan hatch were arrested and taken to the Ipswich watchhouse. Senior Sergeant James said their motives "at this stage were totally unknown and subsequent to further investigations". A 100m exclusion zone remains in place while the contents of the box are being investigated. "The bomb squad are examining it, there is a possibility the device could actually be blown by the bomb squad," Senior Sgt James said. Redbank Plaza remains open and shoppers are going about their day - only glancing at the police situation unfolding. UPDATE 10AM: THE bomb squad has arrived at Redbank Plaza after a suspicious device was located in a car. An exclusion zone of 100m is in place at the Cineplex end of the centre as the bomb squad prepares to approach the car. Police say Safe City cameras identified a man and woman acting suspiciously early on Monday. A Goodna police unit arrived and found a suspicious device in cardboard box.
The silver Nissan is parked with its doors and bonnet open in an isolated spot of the car park. The bomb squad will soon approach the vehicle and determine the type of device inside the box. EARLIER: POLICE have created a 100m exclusion zone around an Ipswich shopping centre following the discovery of a suspected improvised explosive early this morning. The QT understands that about 7am this morning, witnesses reported seeing two people acting suspiciously in the southern car park of the Redbank Plaza shopping centre. Initial reports suggested the men were seen stripping wires and they appeared nervous. Police attended and located several number plates and a suspected improvised explosive device. The police bomb squad has been called to the scene, with a 100m exclusion zone created around the site. Two people have since been taken into custody. |
