Merkel's problems seem to be the result of her enthusiasm for refugee intake on a large scale.

Might be time to drag this one out again with Brexit due in March and the UK in chaos.
Good job Theresa! |

Having a plebiscite which only only needed a simple (ie only one vote) majority requirement for such momentous action.
Hard border between Ireland and Northern Ireland. No winners, possible return of the IRA and Military Reaction Force/Ulster Defence paramilitary.
Scottish disenchantment: likely push for another crack at Independence. Parliamentary and Cabinet disarray: Boris J orchestrating the opportunity to bag his PM and push his (questionable) claims for Leadership. All too late realization of the likely downside of the decision both in terms of Britain's relationship with Europe and the attendant strictures on meaningful trade and other agreements with Oz, Canada, wherever. And that's just skimming the surface after a few minutes consideration. Others will have far more to say one way or the other. ps hopefully the Poms can, for their own sake, win the World Cup. Because it'd almost certainly be the last Cup they'll ever have in the trophy cabinet of World influence. |

Did anyone see/hear Julie Bishop's relatively recent address to the Oz-Pom organisation?
Totally brilliant and clearly without notes. She described the (fictitious) determination of positions under May's leadership, as they went through the candidates for various Cabinet positions. And so, according to Julie, when Boris Johnson's name was mentioned Teresa's immediate response was "fiddlesticks ". Which was misinterpreted by bureaucrats to mean "for Foreign Secretary" as they inked his name in. And as they say, the Rest is History.

Spot on there Stayer. Britain is crumbling under the weight of absent minded social revolution.

Much of Europe is beautiful and accessible and retains it's heritage, culture and character ... the places that the tour guides take you at least!
The Muslim no go zones and ghettos are growing exponentially though, and the tourist tracks will soon shrink. The future is certainly looking Islam!

What are you trying to say Carioca? ... what do you think happens to the millions of refugees that don't drown at sea, who keep flooding into the UK and Europe under the UN open borders policy - the same policies we will soon be adopting if Mal and Jules get their way, and Shorten or Albo will most certainly push for if given a sniff? ... do you think they just assimilate and become valuable contributors and an integral part of those societies ... like they do in Bankstown?
McLaren Vale Shiraz blends are far from fake - I could almost take offence at that statement!

Oh C,mon, Dr E . Everyone knows there are no "no go zones " , either in London or Sydney !!! Just areas taken over completely by those that come to these cities for a better life, and then refuse to assimilate and integrate. |

Forgot to put a little smile Doc, only having my usual dig, when you attain a little class in the drinking dept. you might like to try Penfolds ST.Henri, just saying. |

I haven't actually tried a St Henri that i can recall C, but I'll take your tip and try one (eventually) - they don't do a bad job the old St George Dragons sponsor - Famous for their Reds and Whites! Gotta say, I did enjoy their '88 Grange (they often include McLaren Vale grapes in the blend), but wasn't too fussed with their '99 RWT when I cracked that a couple of years ago (gave the others away!) - one of the best buys I ever made was their Koonunga Hill (just their cheap quaffer) a few years ago now, it was around an early 2000 vintage, but had been put down for about 10 years - it was pure, only paid about $15 a bottle, wish I'd bought more! If you like a bold, full bodied, berry fruits red, you can't go past McLaren Vale though - Wirra Wirra, Coreole, d'Arenberg are the commercial "go to's", Marius (cellar club) is my favourite. Not real fussed on European wines though ...

... and it would be remiss not to make special mention of Northern Victoria for their Durifs and fortifieds - particularly Rutherglen.

So May’s canned plan A. Apparently there is no plan B. Possibly hurtling towards two very different but wildly divisive scenarios here- no deal or even remain. Making the Yanks and the French look good atm. What a sh1tshow.

Bloody hopeless. Just reread the first few posts of this thread in the context of recent french news. Pretty interesting before it turned to crap about racecourses or something. The one good thing about Macron's address to the nation today was that it started with the French, not the EU, anthem. |

Theresa May is to face a no confidence vote in Parliament tomorrow.
Who would want to replace her facing this Brexit mess?
