Congratulations to Second Coming and Runfer with Money Maher (3rd in yesterdays WA Sires' Produce S) being breed by them.  More black type for your mares.

Thanks Furious. Thumbs Up

For those interested, Money Maher's dam Treasury Notes has a filly foal at foot by Skilled and is safely back in foal to Al Maher.

Here's what the trainer said:

Hi Alan and Cheryl

I'm very happy with what Tommy has done as a 2yo, I am sure he will come back better next prep with the race experience under his belt.

He has been forced to race out of his comfort zone the last 2 runs due to lack of pace in his races, I think next prep we could look at taking the blinkers off and sitting him back in the field and I'm sure we will see the explosive turn of foot that he showed us in his first two race starts.

Cheers

Ben

Congratulations.

I have been wondering what had happened with this fella.

Should have black booked him when first came to attention.

That is a massive result.

Well he resumed at Northam today as odds-on favourite.  Second last 7 lengths off the leaders on the turn but took a rails opening in the straight to win by two lengths, running his last 600m in not much more than 33 secs. Thumbs Up

Happy to see him win, however he needs to improve his start and first 200m if he's to prove to be competitive in better company.

While were on the subject of Al Maher. I think if Domesday served 20+ mares a year by Al Maher he would be a top 10 sire each year. I think the combination of Domesday/Al Maher would become a very successful nick. I'm going to purchase an Al Maher mare in the new year and send her to Domesday and we shall see what happens

Thanks Furious.  Star

May have come to hand too quickly, so perhaps an easy week or threebefore aiming for the 3yo stakes races in early/mid November.

On the other hand was talking to the trainer on Wednesday who suggested he might instead head towards the WA Derby next Autumn if he's had enough before the races referred to above.

In any event he's an exciting colt with the whole world in front of him.

Unfortunately Money Maher's full sister was born dead today which is a real kick in the guts for the mare, the stud staff and vets who battled to control an infection she'd picked up, and we as breeders who'll wear a significant monetary setback.

There's quite a few highs for small breeders however sad to say they're generally outnumbered by the lows.

Thanks Furious.

The mare isn't out of the woods and could be gone tomorrow if she has a bleed.  Fingers crossed and just hoping.

That is really bad news.

Hope the mare pulls through.

Sorry to hear about your loss with the foal second chance.
And I hope your mare is ok.

I'm still looking for the highs as well!

Thanks for all your best wishes.

The mare has lost a heap of condition and is still under medication, however it now appears pretty certain that she'll be ok with time.
