It's funny, because the Socialists defend the Labor/Greens policies by saying "... but they have been 'out there' for 5 years and nobody complained".
Firstly, nobody expected them to be elected last time (not even THEM), so nobody cared about their policies. Now when people DO gradually attempt to seriously research them, time and time again, they are exposed as no more than scribble on the back of a napkin, with no substance, or CONFIRMED as destructive, regressive, punitive policies of envy and economic terrorism ... SO WHO'S VOTING LABOR/GREENS ... for "THE RECESSION WE HAD TO HAVE"? Seriously, these parasitic SOCIALIST imposters do not represent an ALP Government - they are as far removed from HAWKE & KEATING as Turnbull is from Conservatism!! Bowen to deliver a recession with plan to save us from oneBe thankful for small mercies. Be glad, be very glad, that putative future treasurer Chris Bowen is not tagged to be health minister instead in the coming Shorten-led Labor government. Why? Because he would presumably immediately set about trying to whip out one of your kidneys to set up a ‘buffer’ stock, so he could subsequently hand it back to you — or, more probably, somebody else — when ‘needed’. Indeed, ‘needed’, precisely because of all the ones whipped out! That’s exactly the ‘logic’ he’s deployed to justify a thumping $200 billion — arguably, actually closer to $300 billion — in new and additional taxes Labor plans to hit you with if it wins (as it surely will) the coming federal election. And I quote from his interview in the Nine-Fairfax’s AFR yesterday: that the money raised by the new taxes would provide a “bigger buffer” to potentially deploy in any serious downturn, he (Mr Bowen) said. That comment is at least as embarrassing as the 1991 fluff by John Kerin, the ‘interim’ treasurer in the Hawke government, over the meaning of GOS (gross operating surplus), which saw him sacked immediately as treasurer by Hawke. Arguably, Bowen’s is even worse. Kerin — who had been one of the country’s finest ag ministers (and an all-round decent guy) — had been catapulted into the job of interim treasurer; as in, the ‘interim’ between the Hawke and Keating governments. Unlike Bowen today, he didn’t pretend to the job (or the particular competence) of treasurer. He also only had the sort of brain fade that anyone can have and indeed many have, present company not excluded. In contrast, Bowen’s comment about the need to raise $200 billion-plus in taxes to be able to hand the money back if the economy went sour is a seriously worrying deliberate statement of inane and destructive policy intent. It’s not a one-off brain fade but indicative of a brain that’s well and truly faded right away. It points to the most basic and broadest and indeed embarrassing incompetence on Bowen’s part. Raising taxes, thinking the economy might be heading into a slump, would almost certainly guarantee that it did. If it’s that good an idea, why not ask the Reserve Bank to raise interest rates by 200 points (two full percentage points) — so that it would have a “buffer” to cut rates dramatically if the economy hit the wall. Now, if what is essentially Economics 101 — raising taxes/raising interest rates will slow the economy — is too hard for someone seemingly as dense as Bowen to understand, let me provide a somewhat simpler example. His tax-raise comment is like saying that we should load up a ship heading into a storm with a lot of concrete so that when the storm actually hit you could throw it overboard! Pity that it would probably have already sunk. If the economy hit the wall? If? Under the forthcoming ‘guidance’ of Wayne Swan Version 2.0? And when it did, Swan Version 2.0 wouldn’t be handing the money back to the taxpayers he’d taken it from, but in government spending handouts. That is to say, Versions 2.0 of Kevin Rudd’s pink batts and Julia Gillard’s school halls. Well, in a roundabout way we can be thankful to Bowen for being so ‘honest’. It’s rare for a forthcoming senior minister to go personally on the record on their entrenched incompetence. We certainly won’t be able to say we weren’t warned. Not like we got ambushed by Swan Version 1.0. And as I said at the start, you’ll be able to comfort yourself that a future treasurer Bowen only wants to (and, thanks to the Greens in the Senate, will) whip money out of your hip pocket rather than a future health minister Bowen might have aimed to whip something somewhat more precious out of your actual hip. https://www.heraldsun.com.au/business/terry-mccrann/bowen-to-deliver-a-recession-with-plan-to-save-us-from-one/news-story/e1df35a2441abe4b68883362c75cdfd5?fbclid=IwAR2vkexH5Mh8abKF-kkcf83H20jpu8qunBdlW4F9127mgOjlHFikgS0mMl4 |

Australia has never been wealthier, we are the wealthiest country in the world in fact, with the best quality of life ever experienced by anyone in the history of humanity!
The only ones complaining are the Socialists because they can "make it better for all of the Comrades ... just give us all the money and we show you how"! That is why people are flocking in their HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS every year, to seek asylum in places like China, Russia, Cuba, North Korea, and Venezuela ... but NOT Australia ... oh wait, can somebody fact check that, please ... and Google - VENEZUELA... they said it could never happen there too!

I see that the latest Newspoll shows LABOR/GREENS have lost 3% since Bill arrived in Queensland! ... if he stays there for another week or two "on the bus", the Liberals might be in front!!!
.. and the FAKE NEWS media narrative is all about how damaging it is for the government to have three frontbenchers retiring ... they always underestimate the popularity of Bill though!
We Bill. |

I shudder to think how much my missus has spent in the past few years looking after our 15 yo blind in one eye, 90% deaf terrier bitch. She gives her heart meds twice a day, applies the eczema and eye ointment, takes her for regular injections for her arthritis, and the vet still can't work out why she coughs like a pack a day smoker! She fuses over it more than she does the kids ... that's why I stay married to her though, I reckon they both still have a few good years in 'em!

‘Arrogant’ Labor not listening to voters’ concerns: FrydenbergJosh Frydenberg has attacked opposition Treasury spokesman Chris Bowen as “arrogant” for saying retirees who don’t like Labor’s dividend imputation crackdown are “entitled to vote against us”. The Treasurer said Labor was not listening to the concerns of self-funded retirees who would lose income under Labor’s plans to axe cash refunds for franking credits. “Labor has arrogantly told over one million Australians to vote against Labor,” Mr Frydenberg said. “What they have failed to do is to listen to their concerns, their deep concerns that we are hearing and seeing from Australians all around the country. “People who have simply saved for their own retirement, people who are not necessarily rich. “People who have taken personal responsibility to save for their retirement. Australians’ retirement savings should be protected, not raided, as Labor is promising to do.” Mr Bowen this morning batted back a case study from an ABC radio listener, who complained Labor planned to cut their income by $5000 but give a tax cut on people earning $125,000. “I earn less that half that for my super in shares,” the listener said. Mr Bowen responded by asking people to imagine a system where “every shareholder in the country was a retired person who did not pay income tax and we refunded all the company tax”. Mr Bowen said the Commonwealth spent more on cash refunds for franking credits than on public schools and the Australian Federal Police. “I say to your listener: if they feel very strongly about this, if they feel that this is something which should impact on their vote they are of course perfectly entitled to vote against us,” Mr Bowen said. “We’ve had the courage to tell them our plans unlike the Liberals who … tried to put up (the) Medicare levy without getting a mandate to engage in all sorts of tax rises without bothering to tell the Australian people before an election. “What we’re doing is being been very clear about our plans.” The Treasurer described Mr Bowen’s claim that the cash refund scheme cost taxpayers almost as much as was spent by the Commonwealth on schools as a “mistruth”. “Labor seeks to distract from their destructive retirees tax by trying to mislead voters by equating the amount spent on cash refunds for franking credits with Commonwealth school funding when the truth is that Labor’s retirees tax on their own numbers raises $55 billion over the decade while government spending on schools is over $307 billion for the same period. It’s no comparison and another inconvenient truth for Labor.” |

Hit a nerve? Don't want to talk about policies? Lots of angry pensioners out there, and lots of people who know one. Lots of people who own a home, who WILL be angry when they work out that not even Bill know what damage their Property Taxes will do (many of them pensioners). Lots of people with a job, who WILL be angry with the prospect of not having one under Labor. My prediction? ... Bill Shorten to go down as the most successful Opposition Leader in Labor Party history ... that's if they don't sack him after the next election! Labor's John Hewson ... wonder which policy will be HIS GST Cake?

The Puppet Master ... what a foul piece of work ... be careful what you wish for 'tards. Words uttered by Sally McManus on television two years ago, hours after she was confirmed as leader of Australia’s union movement, did more than grab headlines. They have come to define her. So it is no surprise McManus begins a polemic, commissioned by Melbourne University Publishing and released this week, by focusing on what she told ABC7.30 host Leigh Sales on March 15, 2017. Asked whether she’d consider distancing the ACTU from the Construction Forestry Mining and Energy Union, a habitual law-breaker, and whether she believed in the rule of law, McManus said: “Yeah, I believe in the rule of law where the law is fair, when the law is right. But when it’s unjust, I don’t think there’s a problem with breaking it.” McManus devotes more than a third of MUP’s On Fairness to this interview, which introduced her to a national audience. Two years on, considered reflections from McManus as secretary of the ACTU are instructive when Labor looks set to win the federal election in three months. Although reduced to representing just 15 per cent of the workforce — and 9 per cent of the private sector, where most people are employed — expectations are high in the McManus camp that Labor with Bill Shorten as PM will rewrite strike laws and others to tip the balance the unions’ way. McManus embraces her “unjust law” remark, expanding on it with stories from the Tolpuddle Martyrs to the Mudginberri meatworkers. The core of her argument is that when union leaders are asked whether they support the “rule of law” they are being “challenged to abandon and condemn our own history” and “the generations of union members who fought and suffered to give us all the living standards we have today”. The ACTU probably needed a live wire like McManus after a couple of bland male predecessors did little to arrest a slide into irrelevance. McManus is passionate, courageous, even fearless. She is also prone to overstatement and being loose with facts, which she can get away with most of the time because who knows the detail? No one is asking McManus to renounce historical struggles but can she be serious in comparing the push for strengthening a right to strike in Australia with battling apartheid in South Africa, British rule in India and race segregation in the US? It appears she is. McManus relates how laws are passed not by “principles” but by governments that “can be unjust and unfair”. “Our anti-strike laws are one of the many manifestations of this fact,” she writes. “Apartheid in South Africa, the dominion of the British Raj over India, and race segregation in the United States of America were entirely ‘legal’ regimes, and governed by laws that restricted the most basic democratic rights and freedoms.” Looks like a comparison. Straight after, McManus adds it’s “no coincidence” Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr were unionists as well. This afterthought says something about their values, but their fights for rights were about much broader inequality and dignity denied. McManus says there is an accepted right to strike in the West, yet there is one in Australia too. Perhaps the conditions for legal strike action could be reviewed in line with international standards, as well as some restrictions on union organising. But no right to strike existed before 1993: it was a convention with some notable cases of punishment for illegal action. When Labor’s Paul Keating enshrined the right in law, the downside for unions was that it could not be an unqualified right, and surely McManus knows this. She skirts over how the Rudd-Gillard Labor government overturned John Howard’s Work Choices in 2008 and replaced those laws with ones we still have. “Our framework of industrial fairness has not recovered,” she writes. Really? Tell that to one of her ACTU predecessors, enlisted to help Julia Gillard finesse the drafting of those laws. Gillard did not think they were “unjust” when introducing them with some fanfare. Nor did Shorten, later, as Gillard’s workplace minister. https://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/inquirer/mcmanuss-blinkers-of-unfairness-blind-her-to-reality/news-story/92348a053d33f3f3c60546f0d36bbe7f?fbclid=IwAR0oKunYqvW1_ddjxMRbYFs5PsANzbAxGaTrUWykdOGYT2zoUu_Fr6QykvQ |

How many referrals were there from the Trade Union Witch Hunt, and how many convictions? How quickly were people referred?
The egregious criminality of the banks and financial institutions brought damning indictments and recommendations. How are referrals going for prosecution Doc? Morrison: Oh we are too busy with our ''Bill Shorten reign of terror'' fear campaign to deal with our friends. Maybe next year, but in the meantime they need a $35 billion tax gift to compensate them for the inconvenience Bill Shorten has put through.
