Well we all know Dreyfus would play Brandis on a break 24/7. Though that's hardly a huge rap given the latter's excruciating duplicity and lack of ability.
But look again Bob and you'll find some coalition MP's with more modest, working class backgrounds. One swallow doesn't make a Summer.

Gary Spencer, Liberal candidate in 2016 federal election for seat of Isaacs against lawyer Mark Dreyfus...
Spencer served in the Australian Defence Force for over 20 years, including overseas service with the US Army in a senior representational role. He is a graduate of the UK Royal Military College of Science and completed a 6 month attachment to the British and European Defence industry with the UK Ministry of Defence. He was awarded the Order of Australia (AM) for his service within Defence. He has since worked as management consultant in his own business and with IBM. He has been a part-time lecturer in the engineering faculty at RMIT and has been actively involved in the local community. Spencer contested this seat at the 2013 election. cabosanlucas, who would vote for Dreyfus , a lawyer, or a former member of the ADF ? or would you vote on party lines ?

Bob, you're making little sense.
Your bloke here might have some background, but he's a Rupert, nothing more, nothing less. ps seem to remember Jacqui Lambie was once a member of the ADF. How do you rate her?

Second Chance, I was responding to cabo's post where he posted he would not vote for a lawyer.
Andrew Hastie, the member for Canning in the federal parliament , was highly decorated member of the ADF. How do you rate him ? What is a Rupert ?

In 2015 Hastie linked Islam to terrorism, calling for Islam to reform and for the religion to 'cohere with the Australian way of life'. In response to this Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull identified him as having been briefed by ASIO on the dangers of using inflammatory language about Islam. Hastie's advertising materials for the Canning by-election and the 2016 election campaign included an image of Hastie in his army uniform, a breach of a general ban on participating in political activity in uniform, leading to Hastie being dismissed from the Army Reserves. |

Here is one that will confuse you, Mike Kelly, member for Eden Monaro
A 20 year veteran including commendations for service in Somalia, East Timor, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Iraq. Reached the rank of colonel, made a Member of the Order of Australia, is a military and civilian lawyer, leaving the army as director of Military Legal Services. Oh sorry, he is a Labor Party MP.

Weightlifting: Transgender lifter Laurel Hubbard wins first international outingKiwi weightlifter Laurel Hubbard has dominated her first major competition, taking out the Australian International in Melbourne on a night she made history as the first transgender athlete to represent New Zealand. Hubbard, 39, won the women's over 90kg division at the Melbourne event, setting four unofficial national records in the process. Hubbard lifted a combined total of 268kg - 19kg better than silver medallist Iuniarra Sipaia of Samoa. Australia's Kaitlyn Fassina claimed the bronze medal with 223kg. Hubbard looked visibly emotional as she lined up behind dais awaiting the official medal presentation. But she kept the tears at bay, smiling and waving as she stood atop the podium. Earlier this month the Herald revealed Hubbard had been selected to make her international debut at the competition after usurping Rio Olympian Tracey Lambrechs at the top of the division. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=11821399 |

I don't care about us and them. I'm about sick of both sides ripping into each other and forgetting they are there to goveren. For better or worst we are all part of Australia. She needs help in so many ways. Forget calling the kettle black as we have all made bad decisions and made mistakes. Mistakes which hould be forgiven - because that is all they were. Today the chances to judge are pretty big with social media blacklisting anyone who fails to do what they think they should.
All this back room guidence sees to be guidence in the other sides mistakes. What about your mistakes. Your opening yourself up but like Trump it seems people like to rip into each other. Believe every word and forget to do a bit of background research themselves. The last election we were told constantly by Turnbull (adds) that if we voted for the other side we were doing a diservice to ourselves. He was the only one who could get us back on the straight and narrow. Well get on with it.... I'm still waiting....and waiting....
I'm sick of this tit for tat. No one is perfect and politians are probably worst that some others. Party policy is good sometimes but likewise if the bill is good why block it. Heavens forgive the other side will do something to help Australia! Get us back on track. Let parents be parents. They make mistakes also. 1/2 the time raising a child is hit and miss with trying to find a nice balance. I had six and they were all different. Let teachers get on with teaching not helping the bullies or the child who wont sit still or listen. Help the children realise there is a limit and there will be penalties. Probably the best is to limit anything electronic! But this us and them has to stop. We are all Australians. |

Might I point out that even ex Labour Prime Ministers can get on with helping and working. Julia Guilard is certainly out there helping the weak and outcast (mental illness) with her latest posting.

I am for equal rights but allowing them to compete against women is just wrong. Is the way of the future though. I don't care if her testosterone levels are below the threshold, he/she still has an advantage from innate and residual masculinity.

Is it that everyone wants change, to what is not certain, but we are wanting the next person to start first?
And those with the loudest voice do so from a position of strength; left, middle and right. |

conundrum. on a sporting field, you see inherent differences. if she was forced to compete against men, the argument would be that its sexist, discriminatory and unfair...and she is at a disadvantage. She is a woman afterall. so transgender athletes have no fair and equitable gender when it comes to competition and sport. Is that innate & residual masculinity a problem in a womans change room? i dont know the answers |

The ideology rules/power is everything/fcuk the country phenomenon is relatively recent in "modern" politics (on the other hand it reflects early Australian politics, but they had many more excuses), arguably commenced under Howard and perfected by the much lesser (in every way) Abbott. This is further exacerbated by poll paralysis wherein bipartisanship for the greater good is shunned because both Liberal and Labor value power over the national interest. Oppositions won't support reasonable (if imperfect) legislation for fear of not gaining power. When you add in the enormous vacuum in REAL leadership and ideas, the future looks dim for younger generations. Things will change but not until we offload the current lot of egotistical time serving dressmakers present in both major parties and replace them with smarter and hopefully better people (yes that's optimistic - look at how quickly Fraudenburg [sic] became a lost cause). If you want a perfect example of the lack of care about the national good do some reading on big mining and big petroleum and the appalling and culpable act of conservative federal politicians in forcing the emasculation of the MRRT prior to dismantling it totally. Cost to Australians? Billions in lost revenue. Then make your way to the PRRT and the generous - nay reprehensible and irresponsible - concessions handed to gas producers by Howard and Costello which will result in some paying effectively zero tax in our lifetimes on the back of huge profits. Cost to Australians? Tens to hundreds of billions. Budget crisis? What budget crisis - we're so wealthy we can afford to allow multinational companies to exploit our natural resources for a relative pittance. Australia has recently joined Qatar at the top of world gas export. Qatar will reap $29B from their exports while Australian will get a paltry $800M - ie thirty six times less - for this non-renewable resource. And Morrison claims we don't have a revenue problem. Ignorant pr!ck. Eventually when complacent Australians wake from their comfortable slumber they will realise we've been taken for a ride not only by mega multinational resource companies but by the very people we put in to govern on our behalf. Make no mistake, without bipartisan support our resources will continue to be plundered and sold off for FAR less than their true worth to the nation by pathetic governments of both persuasions. Big mining recently spent $4 million campaigning against the Nationals leader in WA because he supported an increase in the iron ore levy. They got him beaten, just as they forced the pathetic Gillard/Swan hands on the MRRT. THIS is the great travesty occurring right under our noses and with our unconscious/uncaring consent because when it's all boiled down, we simply don't really give enough of a fcuk to demand our representatives do anything about it.
