There is an element of truth there, macca. The horror stories I have heard from nurses would curl your hair. One described a prominent surgeon as a "butcher" ! You find from your own interactions with doctors, that some are not overly competent, the same as mechanics, builders etc. Falling for the professional mystique is relatively common, as the "joke" ads of dentists not showing their face on TV attests. They are all, to a man, business people.

Find me an Oz born in these Medical Centres.   Rare as ,

The mumbo jumbo language to confuse is a bigger problem for the public to understand Medical procedures.     Like carpentry = Do it once and It's easy thereafter.
   I could do most surgery if I could get the bluddy recipient to lay still.   
Big Business Max & protecting and over servicing that obscene income is No1 on the list of priorities.

A nurse of 25 years experience in Qld hospitals told me you are taking your life in your hands going in there. I guess they really do "bury their mistakes".

Most people of any wit realise that there are wide variation in the ability of medicos, at my local centre this is a doctor with a great reputation, who you can never get in to see, he always has a full book, but some of the drongos in there you can see at five minutes notice.

Well known fact =   Medical error is high on the "cause of death " list.
Ask yourself ..     How many people see a GP and don't walk out with a script of some kind.
Then ask    ..   When was the last time you saw a GP take a patient off a previous script.
No follow up ...     It's Russian Roulette in the main.

I repeat ..    Most people who die were treated Last by a Doctor.
Doctors don't live longer than mechanics ===== need I say more .

Yes ...===    Lawyers live too long .

Spot on OneOne. Some think it's only hate speech when uttered by the right and the more "acceptable and justified" ridicule when stated by the left. Unfortunately  the left is good at claiming moral  high ground and human rights knowledge but they have little ability to remain within the guidelines of the Equal Opportunity Act when resorting to their favoured mode of acceptable and justified ridicule.
