Thinking along the lines 3 bm he would have to be close to WFA standard to warrant the hype, and at this stage I think he's the full package therefore 2 kg under imo would be close, could be a mile out thoug, all depends on the noms. cheers mate.

2 kg under meaning SWFA for a 4 yo at 2400 .

Autridge confirmed that the Turnbull, CC and MC are on the agenda after the Windsor Park. Was thrilled to hear the Carpenter edict re 56kg maximum for the MC should he knock the CC over.

Carpenter is becoming too big for his boots.

There is a touch of Veandercross about this fella.

Not crossing the dtch until CC. Livamol follows the Windsor Park according to this ^^^.

Think Winx and Humidor might have cemented the plan.

Still heading for the CC Horseshoe, or will a decision be taken after the Livamol?

Cheers in anticipation.

Crunch time for Gingernuts on Saturday. Dry track and the best NZ field of the season. IMHO will be under the odds.

It's worth tuning into R8 at Hastings at 2:50pm (AEDT) as popular Kiwi Gingernuts will continue his Caulfield Cup campaign in the G1 Livamol Classic (2040m). The Rosehill Guineas winner tackles Saturday's assignment on the back of a 1600m win in the G1 Windsor Park Plate (1600m) and the market suggests he should take care of business again, with $1.85 the best price currently available.

Now likely to target the Cox Plate and the Emirates.

Not doubting you but that is absolute crap if true.

Idiotic.

Caulfield Stakes is still available.

I wouldn't be surprised if they change their mind as things settle down but David Ellis said he is a doubtful runner for CC.

Te Akau's David Ellis, Gingernuts definitely won't race next Sat and back up in Caulfield Cup so more likely target now the Cox Plate and Emirates

Has the Hawkes Bay Jockey Club already officially abandoned this race?

Given it's crucial for several NZ trained horses spring campaigns (eg Gingernuts, Chance to Dance, Rock On, Sofia Rosa, etc) wouldn't they look to run the rest of the card on say Monday?

Stephen Autridge, "At this stage we are booked on a flight to Australia on Wednesday but would be heading over after missing a vital race.

"We're not sure if they are going to re-run the race but if it wasn't tomorrow or Monday then it's not an option for him.

"It would also mean he would have to travel to Australia, race on the Saturday and then back up seven days later for the Cup.

"It's not something we've done with him before and I just don't know if it is a viable option.

"All we can do is sit down with (Te Akau principal) David Ellis and the owners and work out what our options are once we know what the future of the Livamol Classic is, so hopefully we will have a plan in place in the next 24 hours."

With more rain forecast at Hastings, it appears unlikely the race will go ahead in the coming days.

Thanks for that article horseshoe. A shame for the HBJC to lose their feature event.

I'm not a trainer, but couldn't GINGERNUTS training regime over the next few days be amended to compensate for his missing a raceday hitout today and keep him on track for a 2400m race in 2 weeks time?

You'd think so, wouldn't you. Give it a good hit-out over 2000 metres, with two sprinters to chase, one dropping out, and the other joining in, at the mid-point !

I thought that as well. He's almost certain not to win the Cox Plate, whilst he has a shot in the CC. You'd think he would have done a lot of work and the fitness would be there to be competitive if they give him some hard gallops.

Why would they feel silly? There was nothing wrong with their original plan of staying in NZ for their big local G1 WFA race then coming to Aust for the 2 Cups. Just unfortunate that bad weather has disrupted the plan.

Of course the owners would feel silly.. they took a risk by staying in NZ which includes the weather.. big mistake

Given that so many horses go into the CC & MC these days without so much as a lead-up run, I don't see that this horse is cruelled by missing one race.

Sportsbet boost offering $21 odds for The Emirates still! If Winx doesn't run he should be a massive chance in that. It is still Before NOM's market too - so if they do go CC/MC money will be refunded.

Michael Guerin @GuerinSports

Gingernuts could stay in NZ to race in Livamol if it rescheduled in the next two weeks, skip Cox Plate and go to Emirates. Def no Caulfield

Yet another reason why betting into feature races well ahead of time, is largely a mug's game.

Not really a mugs game if you only invest a small amount. I got $401 on him and that could have been a fantastic bet. I have won the CC/MC double before.
