About that time when the new boys get announced. We have already had Capitalist, Maurice (apparently already full?), Winning Rupert and Xtravagant announced, as well as Shalaa coming to Arrowfield.

Any more waiting in the wings?

Many of those will be hunting for a barn.

Isn't Rich Enuff rotating between two stud farms in two states, or something like that?

It's amazing how swiftly the market is able to turn over that middle band of sires, bringing in fresh opportunities. It shouldn't go unnoticed that, despite all these new names, the total number of stallions standing in Aus has reduced each year for the last 10 (I think... haven't got the exact figure with me).

There are some massive names to come off the roster in the next few seasons.

That said, the Deep Field/Rubick/Dissident etc FS numbers were just silly. They'd want to be right about that crop.

I would be very interested in Preferment.

Flying Artie and Extreme Choice both retired overnight to Newgate. Anyone want to have a stab at a fee? Based on Capitalist at $55,000 then you'd have to think $20-$30K for both of them. Not that I would pay that.

John Zielke says his old mate Worthy Cause has found a barn at Clear Mountain, wherever that is.

Son of Choisir, from the family of Shogun Lodge & Referral.

I just can't imagine Extreme Choice as a future topline stallion. Stranger things have happened, however.

It's not that he's smallish, I just don't think he's got much of an engine under the hood. To my eye, he struggled to run a metre past 1000 at open age level.

The buyers have piled into the Redoute's/Hussonet cross in recent years, but where to from there? Hussonet was bred to just about every Danehill-line mare on the planet. Is there something in that sample to give potential customers hope, or will it be 4x4 Danehill?

Rebel Dane to Swettenham.

He ran some very honourable 4ths for each way punters over the journey... I shouldn't poke fun. I often turn my nose up at colts that squibb the tough contest in favour of a set weights 3yo G2 and an early retirement. Here's one that charged on for another couple seasons, always st the top level. If you want to be the best, you've got to beat the best. Rebel Dane only beat the best a few times, but at least he showed up.

Rommel will stand in WA. Son of Comands out of a US mare who, if nothing else, offers linebreeders a variety of threads into Bold Ruler and daughters of Almahmoud.

I thought he was a nice Autumn 3yo. Could really turn on the afterburners.

Breednet is reporting that Bobby's Kitten, a grandson of El Prado, will shuttle to some joint in NSW.

Some nice variety in that line now. Medaglia d'Oro (and sons), Artie Schiller (and sons) and now a son of Kitten's Joy.

Send Bobby's Kitten all the Lonhro and Reset mares you can.  If they have a cross of Flying Spur (or Flying Spur over Sir T), all the better.  He's got a line to Fanfreluche via her son L'Enjoleur which is dynamite with the Zabeel line.  Kitten's Joy himself seems to appreciate a return of Sir Gaylord.

Mares with Red Ransom would be a good fit--Kitten's Joy has been very successful with mares carrying Roberto.

The other line in Aus/NZ that's worth trying with him are Good Journey, Spinning World, and Peintre Celebre.  These horses are all sons of Nureyev bred on a particular pattern: Nureyev, Sir Gaylord, and the mare Little Hut.  This pattern duplicates everything Kitten's Joy likes, brings out good elements of Bobby's Kitten's female line (Northfields, Somethingroyal via Sir Gaylord), and has a racing aptitude similar to Bobby's Kitten.  Any mares with Theatrical breeding should also be considered, as Theatrical is a half-brother to Bobby's Kitten's 3rd dam and Kittens Joy has 3 stakes winners out of three foals to race out of Theatrical mares.

The only one I like is Frosted (by Tapit).

Not SH progeny for Tapit is too much of a risk though.

The rest, Pass.
