Not sure what they bought him for but they were selling 5% for a bit north of $20k.

Seeing Darby racing current syndicates are upwards of 20-30k for 5% for a yearling that is untried , unknown and untested , not even know if it'll even make the track , 20k for a city class wining horse is a bargain . Add the fact that such a large amount of yearlings at magic millions making 250k to 1 million plus that's out of control . Considering only about 15% of those yearling sold will actually pay their way .

Wasn't a city winner when he arrived though, so still a big punt. Probably helps that he was bred and owned by an Australian, who might have been able to give the new owners an insight into whether he'd be suited down here. Shame about the forced name change though - Swashbuckling is a great name for a horse.

They're a bit cagey on their website about pricing and the like - you basically have to get in touch with them and you'll then go on their mailing list. They've got one for sale at the moment who they say is in a different class to Big Duke and Plein Ciel...

Checking Risa big duke had 4 starts for a win and 3 placingz in Europe before he came out . Agree still a big punt but it seems like a punt that's paying off for them . Checking their winners , pretty impressive . Interesting about that new horses they're advertising as a class above Plein ciel and the duke .

He might have just found one better on the day but a decent jock would have saved some ground at least.

Would rather have had McEvoy on.

Lost plenty of ground on the turn, but i thought the horse was still disappointing. Lacked acceleration.

I didn't like it when they put someone on for the big race who has never been on him before.

Had his chance absolutely, beat home Cool Chap comfortably so the form held he just didn't run the trip out as strong as the winner.

I suspect that he is a more than handy 1600-2000m horse, may get 2400m next prep, but the sire was a champion miler wasn't he?

Still only 4 yo (may 2012 foal) with 9 starts, so next prep should be fun for the connections, if he improves, he will be better than off season city class.
In reference to every post in the Trump thread ... "There may have been a tiny bit of license taken there" ... Ok, Thanks for the "heads up" PT!

Was too far back , got hung out wide , did make good ground to finish second but having said that was still a little bit disappointing . The winner has won 6 from last 7 . He was my third pick . That's racing though , best horse on the day, wins .
