How do they beat him this week? Ben Allen gets a nice claim and has ridden him well previously, the step up in trip is only a positive. I guess the only question is will he get around the valley ok?

Of $80,000.1st $44,000, 2nd $14,400, 3rd $7,200, 4th $4,000, 5th $2,400, 6th $1,600, 7th $1,600, 8th $1,600, 9th $1,600, 10th $1,600

I think he's unders. Put it all together last start but looks a horse who can and will do a few things wrong. Cool Chap a big danger.

Should be odds on.

Hobart Cup may be on the cards I expect if he puts them away. No early market available

Yeah I thought so too, but word from the stable was that they were seriously considering it.

Interesting to see such conviction in him.

Who do you all consider the better of Plein Ciel and Big Duke? I would've thought Plein Ciel was in front at this point, and I was definitely sweating when Cool Chap loomed up to him last start.

Big Duke rates higher than Plein Ciel.

I've got him a $1.45 chance on Saturday.

Interesting.

Given that both their last starts were over 1800m at Caulfield, and Plein Ceil won a higher rated race in a quicker time, how does Big Duke rate higher?

Firstly, you can't compare times from different days.

Secondly, times are only a guide and not used directly in my ratings.

Thirdly, if you do consider times, then Big Duke's last 600m was extremely fast compared to other horses on the day.

OK - thanks.

As someone who doesn't do ratings it was a genuine question.

To my eye Plein Ceil looks superior.

Plein Ciel 2000m or under & prefer Big Duke 2000m+.

Djebel - suspect Weir thinks he is still a bit too brilliant & prefers to give them time to get up in trip.

Best of the day at MV I thought. All over him. Let's get him home, SYT!

Can't get that last 200m out of my head from Caulfield. Wow. Let's do it again!

Some of the owners in him, bought into both Big Duke and Plein Ciel.
They sold one they had with Weiry called 'Get The Dukes Out' for big money to Hong Kong

Seeing Darby racing current syndicates are upwards of 20-30k for 5% for a yearling that is untried , unknown and untested , not even know if it'll even make the track , 20k for a city class wining horse is a bargain . Add the fact that such a large amount of yearlings at magic millions making 250k to 1 million plus that's out of control . Considering only about 15% of those yearling sold will actually pay their way .
