Trump's position is simply that of most people who give serious thought to the issue of abortion. It's not religious - it's rational. Would you prefer Bernie, Alyssa and co (let alone the Peter Singer types) who prefer no limitations on abortion and make it (somehow) about a woman's right over her own body and/ or hedonistic utilatarian principles? Rhetorical question. |

A stunning conservative win. Hell hath no fury greater than left-wingers who lose an election in a surprise upset. Think Brexit in 2016. Think Trump’s victory the same year. Now add Australia. Surprise! Priime minister Scott Morrison appears to have shocked pollsters and pundits alike with his victory on Saturday, and the reaction has been brutal from supporters of the opposition Labor party. They can’t seem to decide whether Australia’s electorate is stupid, evil, or both. Keep up PT. |

Not everyone here was surprised Shammy ... not even PT I reckon, if you could get the truth out of him! ... isn't this the "Blue Wave" he was on about? ... and the really annoying thing for him, is that our equity markets have already responded ... it's our very own "Trump Bump"!!!
We can't use that name though ... hmmm what will it be? The Josh Jump? The Scott Skyrocket? Help us out Shammy!
|

In reference to every post in the Trump thread ... "There may have been a tiny bit of license taken there" ... Ok, Thanks for the "heads up" PT!

As long as it doesn't turn out to be the SloMo Zeppelin. The Libs dont have a good record of tolerating each other. I hope they hold it together for all our sakes but I can't see it. It has all been based on too many lies.
By the way I greened out 3 weeks ago.

Shammy, very sweet that you are concerned about our politics here.
while you are here, what are your thoughts on Trump ordering Don McGahan to not testify before Congress tomorrow? McGahan was mentioned 560 times in the Mueller Report. He could clear up a lot of clouds hanging over the President...or is that the problem? Great news a Federal judge has just now ordered Mazars to hand over Trump's financial records to Congress. Wonder why Trrump opposed their release? Maybe Donald is just embarrassed about how wealthy he is and how honest he is?

Also the judge denied Trump's lawyers request for a stay pending appeal, meaning that Mazars can hand over the documents immediately. As they were happy to hand them over requesting a friendly subpoena to formalise the request, it means they may have already hit send on the file transfer.
Also bad news for other refusing to hand over document to Congress contempt issues with such a comprehensive rebuttal of Trump by this judge. Judge setting out clear constitutional oversight responsibility/right to documents around a President's finances.

It's taken me a few years but I think I have found something Trump has not lied about. Given his draconian comment, sending women back to back alleys, I had to ask: When he was a swinging bachelor in Manhattan, was he ever involved with anyone who had an abortion? “Such an interesting question,” he said. “So what’s your next question?” https://www.nytimes.com/2016/04/03/opinion/sunday/trump-does-it-his-way.html |

PT, the juvenile ,schoolyard language he uses in tweets, is that an indication of his mental age or do you think it is a tactic to relate to people ?
For instance calling Amash a loser and similar dumb, meaningless insults ?

I have been following Trump for 20 years, watching his appearances on cable talk shows like Letterman, on radio shows like Howard Stern or Fox when it started up. He has not changed at all, maybe getting a bit worse. The Stern stuff was really bad, always about his alleged sexual prowess. Never grew up, has never taken responsibility for anything and as a result cannot see wrong in any of his behavior or criminality. Look at the people he is pardoning.

I think it is a bit of both, he is an immature kid, but also tweets in that childish way because it helps him communicate
Why does Donald Trump tweet like a seven-year-old?Rashid Kapadia, Student of Policy & Politics. Avid reader of current affairs Trump tweets (& communicates) the way he does because it helps him accomplish his mission. And there is no denying that he has accomplished many unlikely missions. And he continues to accomplish his missions. This, above all else, is why he tweets and communicates the way he does. It works for him and his supporters. https://www.quora.com/Why-does-Donald-Trump-tweet-like-a-seven-year-old |

Hey Shammy, how interesting is it that the chief justice of the circuit court where all the Trump appeals against handing over documents to Congress is Merrick Garland?
Wait for the tweets.

A lot of similarities between the two maxie, Don the Con and SloMo, the #LiarFromTheShire. Come the great ''headwinds'' we will be Mexico, so wont have to move anywhere. The Reserve Bank doesn't trust him or believe him after reneging on tax cuts even before being sworn in, announcing rate cuts ahead of the meeting next fortnight. I jumped in as soon as the election result became clear and backed a cut next month. Betting is now suspended after the RB calling it

Hey Shammy, I see that obstruction machine Barr blinked today.
Pleading with Schiff to not vote on contempt of Congress if he gives them some documents they are legally entitled to anyway. Nothing to do with Trump's obstruction though. I dont think Mr Schiff is taking his offer seriously though. Should hold him in contempt and move to impeach him if he doesn't stop hiding Trump's criminality.

This is just this week.
Both judges who ruled on access to documents said how ridiculous the Trump lawyers arguments were. Doubt that will stop them continuing with the same stategy, although Barr has blinked bigly and begged Schiff not to charge him. Schiff gave him 10 days to produce or contempt charges will resume. Barr might be one of those extremist Unitary Executive nutters but he doesn't want to go to prison for the crook or his Federalist mates. |

Donny is on a big loser with his trade wars - the clown just announced a $16billion aid package for farmers hurt by the trade war.
Stock markets are all down in anticipation of a protracted trade war.
China' s president Xi Jinping is in for the long haul and has asked his people for another " long march" |

This was reported in some media a year or so ago and it seems they are getting close to the line here.
The secret weapon that China holds in the escalating trade with the USIn the tit-for-tat trade war between China and the United States, the Chinese hold a secret weapon that could see them emerge victorious. And if it doesn’t, it could make Australia an unlikely winner out of the conflict. Since US President Donald Trump first rattled the sabre over tariffs on Chinese goods into the US, his administration has threatened several times to extend those tariffs to the importation of Chinese rare earth metals. Rare earth metals are a group of 17 key elements used in the production of smart phones, electric vehicles and computer chips, among many other things. But Mr Trump has so far not carried through with the threat on raw rare earth metals, but has increased the tariff on processed product from 10 to 25 per cent by June. The US imported 80 per cent of its rare earth metals from China in 2018, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS), without which much of the US’ computer chip production simply would not happen. Accounting for 33 per cent of global production of rare earth metals in 1993, China today commands about 90 per cent of the market globally, according to a USGS report. And what China exports to the US as raw materials, returns in the form of computer chips on which China is heavily reliant for the manufacture of technology products. It’s a hugely interdependent trade relationship, evidenced by China last year importing more than $US300 billion ($436 billion) worth of computer chips, according to The New York Times. So was it just a coincidence that China President Xi Jinping staged a picture opportunity at a rare earth mine this week? Was he firing a quiet shot past the bows of the US? China’s foreign ministry spokesman Lu Kang downplayed the visit, saying it was common for state leaders to go on such site inspections and that the world shouldn’t “overthink” it. It does, though, seem to be extraordinary timing, coming just as the two nations lob hand grenades in a trade war that has the world looking on nervously. Prices surge on back of commodities conflictThe stoush over rare metals, and the ensuing uncertainty, have seen their prices soar in the past week. Commonwealth Bank’s commodities strategist Vivek Dhar told The New Daily that while nothing concrete has happened yet, the markets certainly think something is afoot. “Definitely it looks like things are heating up … it’s absolutely looking like a flashpoint … as far as the markets are concerned,” Mr Dhar said. Mr Dhar said China rare metals prices have lifted 15 per cent since May 15, while the South China Morning Post reported that a bundle of 38 Chinese companies linked to rare earths rose 6.7 per cent on Tuesday. Shares in Chinese company JL MAG Rare Earth Co started the week at 23 yuan and was at 33.69 yuan by 5pm AEST. And if China and the US fail to settle their differences, the dispute could play out well for Australia, which accounts for 2.8 per cent of world’s economic rare earth resources. Australian rare earth producer Lynas is one company that stands to benefit. Its share price started the week at $1.98, and was at $2.44 at the close on Thursday. Mr Dhar said the current trade war could highlight China’s unhealthy dominance in the rare earth market and prompt some countries to look to other suppliers to diversify the sources of supply. As for the stand-off between the two interdependent players, China and the US, Mr Dhar said there were unlikely to be any winners. “Where you have such an interdependence in the supply chain as this one, it’s bad for everyone.” |
