Comfortable with my darts at the moment although we know so much changes so quickly.
Almandin $13 Red Cardinal $18 Ventura Storm $41 Wall Of Fire $201/$51 - I don't even know why I backed him. Pleased it was only small! Also have an investment in Bonneval to do the double @ $51.

Yep, they give you a haircut for same horse doing the double, as they say the MC odds would be much shorter if she wins the CC and we're taking them for a ride if we get a simple multiplication of both single odds.
In the good old days we'd just get the multiplication. Now they want the opportunity to apply a theoretical market, well in advance of the race, based on a theoretical win of a lead up, well in advance of that race. As if the odds weren't already stacked in their favour by us taking a Cups double!

Australian racing is only good up to 1400m in terms of world standards when it comes to depth/quality in numbers

If the horse you take in the MC leg runs a fading 13 th in the CC they don't give you better odds for it, in the MC, if your CC leg gets in. Heads they win, tails you lose. |

Unfortunately he is coming out here for the Cup, arrives this weekend. Apparently Lloyd has purchased him, despite dreadful form in recent times. |

Arrives in 2nd shipment. Went early on Admire Deus and a few others. Have now backed Francis of Assisi $26 e/w and Max Dynamite $51 e/w as they have run well at Flemington.

Francis Of Assisi was winning hurdles 2 years ago.
He is following similar prep to last year. beaten 6L before arriving here , had a break . Won Bendigo 3L and blitzed them at Flem. 2600m 10L in very smart time. 7 Y/o and worth a saver at the price . My son is on at 60/1 so a nice trade . |

Been set for Melbourne. Wasn't wound up last start as didn't want any rating increase.
Definite place chance I think.

Is Who Shot Thebarman a likely starter? He's finished top 5 in the Melbourne Cup twice and should've been 3 times if he wasn't poleaxed in 2015.
Not expecting him to win but I'd like to have a decent wager on the place at big odds.

Gallic Chieftain is a good long odds roughie to take a punt on at the moment imo.
If he runs ok in Herbert Power, will be shorter than the 150's about now. Don't think he could win it, but might be worth an ew spec |

It won't hinge on Sat's race. There are other races like Lexus to get in. But if he performs well this weekend or wins, his odds will shorten

Yes would need to win the Lexus. You'd probably end up with better odds by backing him in that then all up if he wins. At least you'd get a run for your money.

Took the 50/1 e/w Thomas Hobson last week, now that Now that Moreira has been named as the rider in the Melbourne Cup, I now expect the odds to shorten. Some corporates have it $16, whilst $31 was available with another.
Its UK form at Royal Ascot was impressive and Willie Mullins is its trainer. http://www.races.com.au/2017/06/21/thomas-hobson-eyes-melbourne-cup-2017-bid/

Strange for Jo Moeriera to commit to THOMAS HOBSON.
I would have thought he’d struggle to make the final 24 horse field. Currently 33rd in order of entry with potentially a few to jump ahead of him via lead up races - Geelong Cup, Hotham Hcp, etc winners. Zero winning chance anyway, he doesn’t get warmed up until 3600m |

Do not know about "not getting warmed" up until 3600m, sat three wide then hit front at 2400m last start in 3100m Lonsdale Cup. |

cannot go past INFERENCE backed him e/w at 41's then see there has been money for him in the Caulfield Stakes so backed him in that (26 into 19) kept going and took a Caulfield stakes double into the Melbourne Cup but of course same horse so you get 1/2.
*Will have savers on GALLANTE 300's (Only because he should make the field & if its Heavy won 2/2) *A just in case on HARLOW GOLD 300's a who knows but if he can get to the lexus thats the right distance for him, the longer the better. I miss all the tri's etc as just way too much goes on. Good luck on the day punters.

Like Red Cardinal despote him missing a buildup in Aus.Marmelo's CC run is encouraging for Red Cardinal. RC had some form of horse hives??? in Prix de Kergorlay. And clearly has the class to sit alongside racewinner Marmelo. I like both for MC now, but will load up on Red Cardinal. |
