That should read this years Cup of course ..... just to be neat Smile

Noticed Exospheric ran third in that BMW race that's good enough but perhaps not on a wet track for this one.

Looking at the top hopes in tomorrow's Sydney Cup in the Betfair Melbourne Cup market.

Last price matched:

Big Duke $55
Penghlai Pavilion $100
Polarisation $100
Harlem $95

What price these if they win or run well tomorrow?

I started with nothing and still have most of it left

Hi everyone.

I've been collating race videos and news articles for the Melbourne Cup on the following thread on twitter for the past few days.

Could someone work through the thread and move them over here?  I either don't know or have forgotten the best way to post videos here.

Ormonde Stakes

https://twitter.com/itvracing/status/863042013918363648

Could be a couple from this that could end up in Melbourne Cup.

Red Verdon is same connection as Red Cadeaux, first race of season.

The second, Duretto, has lots of German breeding,so may appeal to an Australian buyer, I'd have thought.

I'm fairly sure I heard Saeed Bin Suroor say that Beautiful Romance will go back for the Melbourne Cup again, but I can't find any confirmation of that, so could just be my dodgy memory.

Charlie Appleby said that they'll sort out his Australian raiders in July.

In he meantime, this was a nice performance by one of his, which will be aimed at European Pattern races in the meantime.  Appleby said that they hadn't been thinking about the Melbourne Cup or Australia for Frontiersman, but maybe this performance may've changed his mind.

Are they still planning to make the Caulfield Cup WFA this year?

Or did Victoria just fly that story to try to take publicity away from NSW Racing?

An example of if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it.

something about them wanting to attract more Japanese, and more Japanese betting.

What they could do, is have a 12 furlong G1 WFA 3 weeks before the Caulfield Cup, so that it would be 5 weeks before the Melbourne Cup.  5 weeks between races is a nice gap for stayers.

not sure if it has been noted too much but a Horse has won the last 6 out of 8 cups so with that stat unless you have nuts intact I am ruling a line through them and backing horses only at 4 & 5 yrs of age with balls.
i SUPPOSE Its not a stat you can sproose too much but with the amount of horses winning the cup why is it that we dont have stallions  siring future cup stars and they still come from overseas, Llyod would be best to answer this one, oh of course you can spend a Million to get a fit ready to race horse as opposed to try and breed one over 4 or 5 years makes good economical sense, money buys a cup!

anyway back on topic a HORSE will win the cup.

How will this one go if the track is worse than good?

The last Melbourne Cup winer to run in the QLD Derby was Shcoking in 2009 who finished 2nd, beaten by 0.4 lengths.
