Last fortnight of June is the equivalent of last fortnight of November in their season.

7lbs if I'm not misreading this chart - p10????

Our 3yos get less because they are fast approaching 4 at this time of year.

Yes.
SSB was the "prefectly timed" foal though - 1/8, so nearly 4yo.

SW was foaled late Sept

Just had another look and SSB was 4yo. The runner up Society Rock was 3 and carried 3kgs less.

Apparently 3yos are ineligible for the DJ since the Comm Cup was introduced.

The size of the field and the serious lack of pressure in the race will certainly suit the favourite Harry Angel.

Redkirk may do what he did in the Newmarket ,    lead them all the way.

Certainly well in.

He was on pace in two of his other straight wins also djebel.

Expect they'll let him stride along under his own steam and build - pretty much the standard pre-race tactics according to interviews I've seen (about Au races, not Ascot)

Yes ,   as Sunline has pointed out ,   if he is near right he will be a tough nut to crack at these weights. Won on the track too.

Amazing record having won his first 2 race starts over 2000m in UK
Raced in HK and has amassed over $4 million all up.

Hope we all took the $4.20 from the boys at the TAB about one of them winning.

Now into $3.50.

Not a moral of course, but at the odds, it was well worth a substantial sized bet.

Doesn't need to be an excuse. He's better then those horses but travel takes it out of them like it does with us. Give him 6 months off and bring him back for the autumn.

A bit worried that RW will have had about 5 minutes to re-acclimatize, but if you reckon one of them can win the TAB offer appears pretty attractive.

In the air for quite some time and only 16 days to recover let alone prepare for the race.  Disapprove

Better Loosen Up won
Australian racing is only good up to 1400m in terms of world standards when it comes to depth/quality in numbers

... won on steroids?

RW didn't look happy in a stable video I saw but DHayes said everything was rosy so probably just a case of one who didn't handle the long trip, esp as an older horse. Plenty have the same problem coming the other way. They aren't machines and he'd had enough not far after halfway from memory.

I avoid sprint racing so I know nothing, but surely RW is allowed a flat run after the travel etc? I notice that the ones who swamped the finishing post with Merchant Navy weren't favoured in betting, and that the fave missed the start. That's sprint racing, IMO. So much analysis goes on about what will/ might/ did happen to horses over a short distance when temperament, a bad start, jockey error etc can all change things over the 1 minute of the race. Just don't get why people bet on that kind of scenario unless there's an unbackable Black Caviar type or an obviously talented speedster in a field of donkeys. Or a speedy 2YO.
