Run was almost too bad to be true given his nice first up effort.

Hopefully he can bounce back.

Running on Derby day, then backing up only 3 days later in the Cup is not normal Team Williams style.

Can't remember them doing that since Coachwood in 1995, who won the Hotham Hcp by 5 lens and then ran about 5th behind Doriemus.

Agree there's a nice race in Aloft, but not sure it will be the 2016 Melb Cup.

I think Lloyd and Nick are just trying to take advantage of the weakish field for the Cup.
Obviously the more runners they have in the race, the more chance they have of getting some prizemoney to buy some new UK nags

His last prep in the UK he had 2 starts, first up he won the 3219m Listed Queen Vase, then he ran 28L last in the 2414m Group 2 Great Voltigeur.

Aren't most of their 3yo black type races only for colts?

If so, did they import him as a Listed winning and Group 1 placed Galileo colt out of a Group 3 winning Storm Cat mare, and geld him before he had a start down here?  That's insane if true.

Yeah, once the stablemate was scratched Aloft looked like the winner.
Silly odds for a horse that runs so well fresh.

I started with nothing and still have most of it left

Does anyone know what this trainer looks like?
Never heard of him, never seen him and never heard him speak.
Lloyd is an old man and Nick is a fat slob, needs to get with the times and lift the media ban

Good news. The screen must’ve been precautionary because he’s still with us

Aloft – a post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr L Howley advised Aloft would now be spelled. Mr Howley was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding racing again.

Nominated for the 2800m Open Hcp at Flemington on Saturday, so whatever the issue was in the Sydney Cup can’t have been too bad.

Looks horrendous in the yard. Surprised to see it turn out like that.
Cannot win, would be surprised if he finishes the race

LOL Wish I'd read that, I might have halved my bet.

Racing.com said late money for him.

I backed him purely on trust. Best horse in the race, not poorly weighted.

I trusted all was well. CLearly it wasn't.

Drifted which was never a good sign... once he drifted I assumed he was on the race for another runner and to compress the weights. I’m sure Lloyd thought he was a throw at the stumps but Sherlock crunched late
