You would need to establish some Italian connection involved in the naming of FIca Gal and I don't know how you would do that.
However I still think this horse should have a name change now that this Italian slang word is identified as being so crude by the authorities in the name of consistency

You’re a sick individual if you find that clever or amusing.

The name is just lewd and disgusting. Its great to see authorities ban the owner who named the horse. He’s someone our sport can do without.

I was referring to Andiamo Fica.

Honestly, how can an owner cop an 18 month ban for an ""offensive name" but a trainer can stuff it's horse full of any number of illegal substance and cop, a few thousand dollar fine, and maybe six months if they're really really bad. What's more offensive?

Why did the stewards allow it in the first place?
They initially accepted it did they not?

Probably they were misled with the meaning because it is Italian Slang.

Since part of the name comes from the sire they would of accepted some association.

Interesting to note that in certain sports like soccer for instance we a have a situation where the governing body, FIFA constantly is fining Mexico because their fans chant similar slang when the opposition goalkeeper is taking a goalkick.

Can't eradicate it...

Another offensive horse name requires change
7 hours ago by Luke Sheehan
Less than four months after an owner was disqualified for crafting an offensive name for a horse, it appears another Italian-inspired moniker has slipped through the cracks.

Only on Tuesday was a four-year-old mare named 'Little Minkia' re-named 'Persian Honey', with the authorities no doubt deeming the former offensive, albeit after being in the system for at least a year.

Allow Google to help clarify the original name, bearing in mind 'cazzo' translates to 'd*ck'.

The name change came one year to the day since the mare's first trial at Naracoorte, and she has placed just once - at that same track - in six career starts under her old moniker for Bordertown trainer Jeff Searle.

Whether or not any action comes from it, as the Racing NSW stewards acted in disqualifying owner Stuart Ruse for 18 months, remains to be seen.

Interestingly, the Victorian-based mare Fica Gal had her name changed to Bene Gal three weeks after the name change for Andiamo Fica (changed to Andiamo Miss), but there was no further action taken.

Little Dick was a useful sort in the early 1870's. I think he was Tasmanian.  He won a couple of stakes races beating Melbourne Cup winners Warrior and Nimblefoot.  His best win was in the 1870 Grandstand Handicap at Flemington.

He isn't in the studbook and produced no progeny. Stern Smile

Times change and so do words...

In the 1930's the sire Gay Lothario (sire of Tranquil Star) sired many horses with a Gay prefix.  One of the best of these was Gay Lover who won the 1937 Cantala Stakes.   Gay Lothario also produced a filly Gay Romance who produce the 1956 Rosehill Guineas winner also called Gay Lover.

Would it pass today ?

Just to add Tontonan, in the 1956 AJC Sires Gay Sierra beat Gay Lover with the very talented Star Kingdom colt Starover 3rd.

Little Dick did some racing in Tasmania in the 1870s and was a well-travelled campaigner across several colonies. Unfortunately, he didn't race against Saucy Dick which was competing in Tasmania at the same time.

Gay Blonde was a very good mare from the 1930s. I remembered Gay Deceiver from the late 60s. In looking up his record, I noticed a Falvelon gelding with the same name registered in NZ as late as 2009.

I heard a story many years ago that a Tasmanian trotter was very nearly registered as Far Queue.

I always thought the 1920s champion, Windbag, was a very ugly name for a horse until connecting that Magpie was his sire and remembering what a magpie was colloquially.

Magpie's progeny included Boastful, Chattering Maiden, All Gab etc but also two other very good gallopers in the Metropolitan-winning mare, Loquacious and dual-Derby-winning Talking.
