he rides it 'cute' but publicly posted this on his rides

CHARLEVOIX is my ride in race two, for David & Ben Hayes & Tom Dabernig. This a restricted race for VOBIS Gold horses only and although my horse has 59.5kg he is extremely well treated at the weight scale. He has been a model of consistency at his last four starts and he is also back to 2400m and on his most recent form he should be too strong a stayer for these.

Exactly Djebel. Would of had to turn into Pegasus to win that. Had a wall of horses in front and gaps closed wherever he went. Only way he wins that is to do a D Dunn and knock em sideways

why not follow the group of horses he is with to the outside at about the 500 tho? just way too cute for riding a $4 pop, give it a chance to run on even if you're swinging it widest

He's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. All he needed was one horse to drop away and he wins a la Anchor Bid at Flemington last week. Maloney lauded for ride in race 1 but what if the leader hadn't shifted off the rail? It's thoroughbred racing and sometimes you're lucky and sometimes it deserts you.

The ride was puerile. Had no reason to take him to the fence behind a wall of horses at the start. One of only two chances, fit and in form, and Williams locks him away behind inferior horses hoping that splits come. Every jockey has bad luck but Williams rides too pretty too often for mine.

If you show the intent to push out often you're let out.

Also, if you know you've got alot of horse under you why end up in that position?

Told by stable to get cover and keep out of the 50kmh winds. Hyperbole on slaughter for mine. Just plain bad luck IMO

He's supposedly Vic's leading rider on a very fit conveyance over a perfect distance. Hayes said on air he didn't give Williams instructions - for good reason. Hayes will know better next time, if there is one.
Irrespective I doubt they thought Williams would lock him away on the fence behind far lesser horses. His ears would be ringing for days if Cvoix was mine.

Agree to disagree 3BM. I don't think Williams has anything to fear over losing the ride or any form of patronage from Hayes. He's well supported by the two leading stables in Vic for a reason.

Showed a lot of promise as an autumn 3yo, but hasn’t really gone onto the level some of us thought he might be capable of.

He went around in a hurdle trial at Cranbourne today. Will be interesting to see if the trial is just a tactic to switch his mind back on for flat racing or whether he’ll join Dane Hussler & Epsom Hill as part of David Hayes jumps team for the winter.
