Godolphin has made the decision to retire Contributer and Complacent due to minor tendon injuries to both horses.

Contributer retires with the record of 18 starts for eight wins, two seconds and two thirds and prize money of A$1.175 million.

Complacent retires with racetrack earnings of A$913,000.

Three fillies in the Inglis Classic sale.

The one out of Shades of Silk (Lot 690) looks nice, on paper.

Kiwi yearlings always look so much bigger than the local product.

Must be all the cobalt in the soil.

I actually thought our yearlings were sometimes under compared to Australia's but we do have a reputation for growing good horses. My mare had a lovely Contributer filly who found her way on a plane to your shores.

I thought he would struggle commercially. But i do love the High Chaparral line and  he may well throw some good racehorses. I have a share in one of his 1st crop 2yo's with a larger stable. Reports are good, broken in well, spelled well, jumped out well. They think he has a bit of quality. Much more positive reports at this stage than our horse of the same age last year with same stable and that horse is now a nice winner.

Apparently trainers do like them so far, but as i said earlier, commercial success was always going to be tough i thought. Maybe similar to Redwood but hopefully better behaved.

Without getting too carried away on the research, his sales figures seem to be pretty good compared to his service fee.

When I mentioned the trend (again, not that two points could be considered as such), I was referring to the number of live foals.

Nice start for Contributer with a winner from only his 2nd ever runner at Wagga today. It looks a nice filly who had been trialling well in town at Sydney for John O'Shea.

Hopefully another High Chap stallion who can make a mark. I have been following all the Contributer's(mainly in NZ) at the trials, and the bulk of them show good ability. I think they go alright personally. Looking forward to seeing them as 3yo's.
