It is not impossible that this camp have experimented so much that they have fine tuned their jigging to work prep after prep |

Can always count on SC to jump to the defence of a cheat in need. At least you’re consistent. |

Er, where did I ever "jump to the defence of a cheat?"
ps after looking up "rarely: I also looked up Discochips23 in my dictionary, and here's what came up: "Discochips23 - pedantic excessively concerned with minor details. |

Yep.
ps Noel Kelly died nearly 28 years ago so don't think he passed many hints on to Weir or Smerdon. pss though I understand he passed on a few to Gay3.

Quote from Santa Anita Report, applies here too? BHB & Kings Wii Dream come to mind. Not good for racing industry’s image 😕
“Recent deaths have occurred from assorted other causes including heart attack, a broken pelvis and broken shoulder. These causes for some underscored the need for mandatory pre-race physical testing of all horses. The problems initially came to wide public attention with the breakdown of Breeders’ Cup Champion Battle of Midway Feb. 23. The horse’s ownership was criticized for bringing the horse back from last year’s retirement from racing after he proved only “somewhat fertile” as a stallion.” |

You either believe racing is safe or you do not.
If you believe racing is safe you have no need to be anymore concerned for Black Heart Bart than for any other horse. Sea Of Class died as a 4yo from the results of Colic. Subzero is 31 and is battling on after a battle with Colic. Anything can happen to the fittest and soundest of horses at any moment. |

With all due respect, it’s far from being that clear cut 😕

So true djebel.
I had a beautiful animal win his last two starts in class and track record time. 10 days later he died, in work. Just keeled over. I can still remember putting the bridle on him, 10 years later.

We had a horse who was dead within 6 hours of winning his debut by 5 lengths.
About 2 hours after getting home, he went downhill and within 45 minutes he was unable to be saved. |

Okay so Battle of Midway broke down in work. I will ask, then what if he had been in his retirement paddock and this occurred? Does that mean that it was racings fault, the connections fault, the stud or property managers fault, or his handlers fault?
I understand the concern if you have a horse who xrays with bone issues, but if a horse is retired, and has not shown any signs of any issue, then not sure what the connections can be blamed for, as the incident could have happened anytime, anywhere. Of course if a horse who has a big following comes back, and something happens then the connections are going to get hammered, but that is like the people who say horses like Destiny's Kiss should be retired, even though they have shown, they hate the spelling paddock and thrive when in training and racing. |

You don’t think a horse with at least 5 previous vet embargoes (presumably from pulling up lame) isn’t a high risk proposition? These issues generally get worse with age, not better. It’s not about believing if it’s safe or not, it’s about minimising risk. There is a huge incentive to prop up a talented gelding. Think Voodoo Lad. |

Obviously the Racing Officials are thinking Law suits. What happens in a situation if a horse like BHB, has a soundness history that is obviously bad enough that warranted retirement, comes back, breaks down and a jockey is seriously hurt or worse? Of course a horse can break down at any age, but if there is noted history of a horse having issues, the authorities are within their rights to not only protect the horse but also the Jockey. |

That is the exact reason why the stewards have to sign off on everything before he races again. Every box must be ticked

I’m pretty sure that mare died of cancer, she went down again and they found a second tumour, so she was put to sleep. Bit unusual in a young horse, initially reported as colic
