I’m not defending him.
I’m just seeing certain people saying things but then not having any factual information to support them.
I find the whole situation a little strange to be honest.

Smith re Bart critics – “trust me”

Lindsey Smith is “stuck in the eighties” and doesn’t follow social media.

But the Perth trainer – soon to be a full-time Victorian trainer if he can convince his wife to move – is aware of the rumblings about the Black Heart Bart comeback.

The theme of many is “what more does this old horse have to prove?”

Smith offered a reassurance on Racing Pulse this morning.

“Everyone just relax, trust me. The stewards will do their job, the vets will do their job, the bloke who rides him in work will do his job,” Smith said.

“He’s enjoying his life. He looks good, so everyone should just …. Instead of sitting in a paddock and being cold, he’s in a beautiful box, he’s enjoying his work down at the beach and if he’s not up to it I’ll be the first one to stop.”

Smith said he was mindful of public scrutiny with Black Heart Bart, who pulled up with internal bleeding and injury hotspots when unplaced in last year’s Toorak Handicap at Caulfield. He is now a rising nine-year-old.

Trainer Darren Weir announced Black Heart Bart’s retirement shortly after.

“I still live in the eighties. I don’t get to the social media but you hear it from people,” Smith said. I’m a horse trainer, I’ve been doing it a long time, I love animals, I will not send that horse to a racetrack if he’s not going to be competitive and a chance of winning.”

Black Heart Bart was given the thumbs-up by Ballarat vets last week but must be inspected by Racing Victoria vets after he trials, which he will do in coming weeks.

It is slightly reassuring to read that

A typical Matt Stewart “story”. I think the majority of people are more interested on how and where Black Heart Bart got to the fitness stage he is at. Obviously Weir is pre training horses on his property and god knows what else he is doing to them. By all reports he is running cattle on his property and can use them as an excuse to have electronic devices on his farm.
