It doesn't matter where you backed it, if you have a Betfair account you can lay it at the greatly reduced odds, to get effectively a 12/1 guaranteed win, but it is your call as to the advisability of that, you certainly aren't in line for a big collect cashing out now.

Not that on the ball to take full advantage of its benefits etc.

Will let her ride and just hope weiry puts her in the race.

He stated in an interview early September the Caulfield Cup was her aim this prep here's hoping he sticks to that.

Hope u won the half a new house as well on her.

Most previous winners of the Bart Cummings Stakes have got a 1kg penalty for both Cups - eg: ALMANDIN last year & DOLPHIN JO a few years before that.

Perhaps she'll get the same 1kg penalty??

There's quite a few above her in the order of entry that will drop out - eg Gingernuts, Tavago, Egg Tart, Hardham.....question marks over Almandin and Hartnell lining up in the CC too.

So with a weight penalty....she may squeeze in.

Suspect that they want more of the internationals to run than the locals. Bet she doesn't get a penalty despite running pretty much the same times as Almandin last year.

Mystified and farkin gelatied off about hearing she wont make the field after Saturdays win.

There are at least 15-20 horses ahead of her that won't or shouldn't be going.

I bet lyold will accept all of his and then scratch on race day just to be a turd as well

Foundry went from 50 to 51 kgs and is virtually no chance of making the field.

The horse he conquered Big Duke has 53.5 dropping 1.5 kgs from the Metrop 2 kgs difference for a 0.5 length defeat.

Foundry 104 and Big Duke 106 would have 1 kgs between them the next time they meet in a handicap other than CC and MC.

Foundry's penalty is easy to see. Amelie's Star is a little more difficult.

As a mare she gets a 2 kg allowance and already being on 51 her win on Saturday should see her rise in the order without any penalty.

He does not explain why she was not penalised for the Caulfield Cup.

No penalty for Amelie's Star after The Bart Cummings win

RV_Author

Racing Victoria Staff@RacingInsider

10:46am

Racing Victoria (RV) Executive General Manager – Racing, Greg Carpenter, has announced that Amelie’s Star will not be re-handicapped in the BMW Caulfield Cup (2400m) and Emirates Melbourne Cup (3200m) for her win in The Bart Cummings (2500m) at Flemington on Saturday.

The Darren Weir-trained mare will remain on 51kg in both races after her Group 3 victory over outsiders Granddukeoftuscany, who is not entered for the Cups, and stablemate Kellstorm.

Amelie’s Star is guaranteed a start in the Melbourne Cup having secured a ballot exemption with her win in The Bart Cummings, but she remains at number 35 in the Caulfield Cup Order of Entry ahead of second acceptances for the 21 October feature on Tuesday.

Carpenter said Amelie’s Star – who will carry the same weight in the Melbourne Cup as Almandin did last year -  was strong at the end of a truly run 2500m Bart Cummings in beating Granddukeoftuscany (Rated 74) and Kellstorm (86).

“Amelie’s Star’s Melbourne Cup weight will be 51kg, the same weight Almandin was given after he won the Bart Cummings in 2016 before going on to win the Melbourne Cup,” Carpenter said.

“Amelie’s Star will meet Almandin on the same weight terms in the Melbourne Cup as she did on Saturday (5.5kg less) and is 1.5kg worse off against Harlem.”

This is the third year that The Bart Cummings has offered the winner a guaranteed start in the Melbourne Cup with Lets Make Adeal (2015) and Almandin (2016) both on the Cup’s limit weight of 50kg prior to their victory.

Let’s Make Adeal was penalised 0.5kg to 50.5kg but was unable to take her place in the Cup due to injury. Almandin was penalised 1kg rising to 51kg for the Cup before ultimately carrying 52kg when weights were raised 1kg at acceptance time.

Since 2000, five winners of The Bart Cummings have contested the Melbourne Cup with Brew (2000) and Almandin (2016) completing the double, while Who Shot The barman finished third in the 2014 Cup. Dolphin Jo (2007) and Harris Tweed (2010) both filled fifth placing.

In finishing third in The Bart Cummings, imported galloper Kellstorm passed the ballot for the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups moving to 53rd position in the Order of Entry at Caulfield and to 81st for the Melbourne Cup.

New Orders of Entry will be released tomorrow afternoon following the 12 noon closure of second acceptances for the Caulfield Cup and first acceptances for the Melbourne Cup.

Meanwhile, the first heat of the Melbourne Cup Carnival Country Series was run at Murtoa on Saturday, with both I Am The Dark (1st) and Hero Master (2nd) advancing to the $200,000 Melbourne Cup Carnival Country Series Final at Flemington on Oaks Day on Thursday, 9 November.

The next two heats, of which there are eight, will be run at Ballarat on Thursday and Cranbourne on Friday night with nominations closing for both races at noon today.
