Bryce has stated many a time that he needs a hard track which is probably why he does well around the Xmas/New Year period but he must be feeling the wear & tear these days.
Wisdom has been chasing me but I've always outrun it!

Pretty simple really.
He gets him fit on track on tracks with some give in them and he is ready to go when they dry out.
He has won almost a million dollars with him so he knows what he is doing.

2200 last  time far too short for him.  Never won at that trip even at his best.  If he sticks to the Valley 3000s he can win again.

Would be great if old Crafty Cruiser could edge past the $1.0m prize money mark. That would probably need to see him win a Saturday metro race, which might be a bit rich for him these days.

To MK’s reference to the Melb Cup.....Bryce has actually already had a Melbourne Cup runner, which started at 400/1.

Quiz time - Name Bryce’s Melb Cup runner?

Nice observation - Bryce's team better have had something on at 30/1. Long time between wins for the Knuckler...

In fact that win in Apr 2013 was at Ballarat over 3000m!

On the same card Prince Of Penzance won 1600m event....

Hmmmm I think I'll go have a sandwich and watch some more kriket.

'Legend' Bryce Stanaway praised for rescuing stricken mare
By Nick Hluchaniuk 8 hours ago
Trainer Bryce Stanaway has been praised for his quick reaction to a potentially dangerous situation in the mounting yard at Kilmore on Thursday.

The Tony Waddell-trained Diamare was fractious in the parade ring prior to the running of the fourth race on the card when the seven-year-old mare escaped her handler and attempted to jump the fence into the general public.

She became stuck on the fence with just one leg left on the side of the mounting yard.

Fellow trainer Mitchell Beer lauded the actions of Stanaway who quickly came to the aid of the stricken mare.

Beer said he and Stanaway were standing near Diamare when she became trapped.

"Bryce was incredible. Legs were going left, right and centre and he just ran and got hold of her," Beer said.

"It's so dangerous when they are in a state of panic like that."

With the help of a couple of others including Beer, Stanaway managed to free the mare and lift her off the fence where she was safely held in the general public area.

Beer said the incident could have escalated quickly had it not been for the Torquay-based trainer quickly swinging into action, saving the mare from further injury as well as preventing what could have been a dangerous episode for patrons on course.

"He's an even bigger legend in my eyes," Beer said.

"He cut his hand up pretty badly (in the incident) and he just laughed it off."

Stanaway saddled up a runner in the following race with Moorabool finishing fifth behind the Beer and Max Hinton-trained Dream of Paris.

Diamare sustained abrasions and lacerations to both hind legs and was found to be lame in both hind legs following the incident.

The seven-year-old, who only made her debut in November, will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.

Great to see the old boy (Crafty, not Bryce) salute. Got a very small share in the second horse but you can’t begrudge Bryce getting a win because racing needs more people like him.

I see one imbecile calls him a 'coming murderer' or some gelati for running old Crafty.
