@S_Sangster: Very exciting that the first son of international sensation Starspangledbanner will stand at Swettenham for $12.5k

Some smaller studs in Australia are going to go to the wall as this shuttle trend continues to grow!.

Maybe following the small breeder out the door.

Assuming his fertility will be fine, guessing he will be well supported, esp with the older proven mares

Group One winner The Wow Signal retired Wed, 13 May 2015

High-class colt The Wow Signal has been retired to stud due to injury.

One of Europe’s fastest and finest two-year-olds last season, the colt became one of the first flag-bearers for his freshman sire Starspangledbanner.

Trained by John Quinn for Al Shaqab Racing, The Wow Signal started four times for three wins including the Gr. 1 Prix Morny and Gr. 2 Coventry Stakes. His only defeat came in the Gr. 1 Jean-Luc Lagardere.

The Wow Signal was expected to be a strong contender for the 2000 Guineas but was ruled out of the Newmarket classic due to an injury which has now brought an early end to his career.

“We are very sad that The Wow Signal has had to be retired,” Al Shaqab Racing’s racing advisor Harry Herbert said on the stable’s Facebook page. “It is always disappointing when a horse like this is prevented from reaching his full potential. His two-year-old form emerged as some of the best in the world and I have no doubt that he would have gone on to be an exceptional three-year-old.”

Quinn said the loss would be keenly felt in his stable.

“He’s a very tough horse with great constitution and tremendous acceleration who ran well on all types of ground,” he told Racing Post. “He is a very special horse and I am sure that he will make a great stallion. We will miss him very much but I look forward to training his offspring in the future.”

The Wow Signal will shuttle between Haras de Bouquetot in France and Swettenham Stud in Australia. A service fee has yet to be announced.

Apparently the price may not be correct. The tweet I got the cost from has been retracted.

I think he looks an interesting prospect with a few provisos:

What was the injury that caused him to be retired after 4 starts? Bad luck, conformational fault, raced too early and suffered juvenile wear and tear? Need more info

What is the potential for fertility problems being inherited from his sire?

Do not overprice this horse. I think the $12.5k originally posted is the absolute top he should be. $10k should be his optimum first season fee.

Would need to see him in the flesh to judge things like his conformation and presence but this stallion could be " out of this world"Tongue

With High Chaparral, Topsider and Secretariat along the damline, breeders will be able to tap into some exceptional female lines...5h, 1n and 2s.

Not the strongest female line with 6th dam Ambwithor the best with 3 stakes winners from 3 runners though had 17 foals. Descends from Reine de Course  Ormonda through her daughter Dustwhirl, this line the 8h channel of influential mare Atalanta from the Beeswing family.

Another young stallion succumbs to laminitis Cry

Al Shaqab Racing

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Prix Morny Gr.1 winner #TheWowSignal, who has been fighting against laminitis for the past months.
A big blow to our team who have been caring for him since he arrived at Haras de Bouquetot in 2016. #TheWowSignal is survived by two small crops of progeny since he was subfertile, with 8 yearlings registered to be born in France.

Wisdom has been chasing me but I've always outrun it!

His yearlings at Melb. Prem looked like runners.    Two colts ( ex Fast Grass & Here de Princess ) were both extremely impressive types & sold well considering lack of numbers & lack of publicity.
Don't be surprised if there are a couple of goodun's at least amongst his total crop of 12 SH foals only
