infomercials are the bane of my life...staying up for all these animal feedings I am bombarded by them in the wee small hours...I end up resorting to my extensive DVD collection...

once upon a time you could find great old movies on during the night...now it's info-pestilent-mercials...

Desert War, Rain Lover, Latin Knight, Hay List, Mustard...my turf heroes...

Sons Of Liberty SBS tonight, has anyone seen it? I'm a bit dubious of SBS series, they tend to be a bit drawn out. I've read reviews & realise it has to be accepted as fictionwhich I'm quite happy with as I'm no US historian Wink

Slow tho' it is, has anyone been watching Hiding, Thurs 8.30 ABC? Those who have will know there was an equally slow US series on after it, set in the Arctic or Alaska, named after a town ????? but having shown 3 parts, seems to have been ditched Confused. Not on last night or next Thurs so if someone knows what it was called, I could probably catch the rest online Smile
Govt funding cuts can't have made that much difference LOL

A new low for the human race. Would rather spend a day stuck in an elevator with Bondy than get through the 2 minutes I endured of that show.
Thankfully what happened in Ireland over the weekend makes me forget shows like this exist.

the show is just another in the long line of channels doing ratings grabbings, each time they try to invent new ways to shock and annoy it's audience, apparently this show is based around science as data has been collected and used to match each couple, I have no problem with that but the show just tries continually to provoke drama and hysteria...there wouldn't be any viewers if they all got along and had a nice time.

anyone see the 60 min thing on nth korea ??

i thought it was really poor journalism/reporting whatver you call it.
The reporter used a constant "you guys are f*cked" tone ..
+ had no comeback when the nth korean spokesman answered the preprepared "make them look bad" questions...just moved on to the next "preprepared make them look bad" question..

free healthcare, education and housing for all residents sounded ok..
i'm not getting into a debate re: communism v capitalism as i couldn't be bothered..but just thought it was a really poor reporting job + that the nth korean spokesperson came across well, given ths reporter's smaret r's tone.

TV these days is too extreme. Either right wing or left wing. There is no nuance any more. What happened to balanced journalism? Infact what happened to Journalism period? Now it is all Shock Jocks.

Realistically, you could not take any show about people marrying instantly because a TV show matched them, seriously ! It beggars belief they can find people to participate, without paying them substantial money. People get involved in sham marriages in real life for money, as in immigration scams, I can't see how any other motive would be at work here. Or maybe they want to get themselves on TV as well, but whatever the motives, they are all screwed up.

It does trade on the dominant theme of modern entertainment, voyeurism, however contrived it might be.
